Hmm..

Looks like full hazmat suits run about the same price as a drysuit.  Not sure how well they'd paddle though.

Yeah.  They also float and double as a body bag.  Don't forget your ID, clearly legible from the outside.

Wow, that's over a $100 increase from the current SuperNova

It's a new material. Current Tropos is a single-layer nylon with a waterproof/breathable coating. The new angler suit is a 3-layer waterproof/beathable material called Tropos 3/T3, (hopefully with a lot more breathability than the current single-layer fabric). The angler suit also has Cordura reinforcements on the lap, seat, knees & elbows. So for the the extra $100, you're getting several improvements/features.

That's hillarious! I used to lead tours around ross island 3 times a day 6 days a week, and I've rolled & swam a thousand times in that river (in the summer when there is little to no run off from the CSO's) I noticed that cuts and scrapes took months rather than days or weeks to heal. Other than that, no side effects.......until I have two headed babies or cancer, which I wouldn't be able to pinpoint to the willamette.

I have noticed that after we teach classes on the columbia, and put the dry suits into a fresh bucket of shampoo & water, that the water in the bucket goes completely brown, and smells like dead animals.

anyway you look at it, paddling in an urban environment is going to be dirty.

If Kokatat would just put the foldover neck with Velcro adjust strap that's on my dry jacket on their full dry suits, that would be perfect.  It allows for much-needed ventilation, and can be folded quite water-resistant.  We sit-on-top guys do not spend much time upside down, like the sit-in and roll-over kayaks.

I think Kokatat did listen to this request by many kayak anglers when they designed their new T3 SuperNova Angler Paddling Suit has a neoprene neck gasket instead of the latex one.  Zee would be able to confirm this as he is sporting one these days.

Here's a description from their site..
Quote
Based on the popular SuperNova, the Angler is constructed of 3-layer TROPOS for increased durability. Cordura® reinforcements on the seat, elbows and the entire front legs keep the suit protected from fishing tackle and other sharp objects. The relief zipper is covered - keep the scales on your catch! A comfortable APT neoprene neck gasket keeps you dry in the event of a swim, and latex wrist gaskets keep water out when hands are in the water. Integrated socks are covered with an adjustable gravel guard.

yup, I just received mine last week. Neoprene neck gasket, lots of Cordura reinforcements, and the nifty new inner line. I'll have it at the paddle clinic if anyone wants to check it out & give feedback.
