Is anyone available to fish this Friday or Monday? I do not have to work until 2:00PM and wanted to get in some fishing earlier (Maybe 7-12). I will probably need to stay within an hour of Portland to maximize my time. But would be open to anything. I am hoping by getting out with some of you'll I'll pick up some ideas for outfitting my yak a little more and or techniques for fishing around here.

I also have next Tuesday and Wednesday off and wanted to see if anyone had any interest in heading to the coast on one of those days? Again open to anything, bays, rivers, open water, etc. Have not paddled unprotected water in a sit on top, so really wanting to be safe (Obviously) and learn from someone who knows those waters.

I'm not sure what my schedule will allow this week, but I believe FishesFromTupperWare will be back in town starting Saturday and looking to fish.  He would certainly qualify as someone who knows the waters.

TXP

I had plans to fish Friday but they've been scuttled.  Booo.  However, I will be kayak fishing Saturday (possibly a work day for you based on your post).

Since it doesn't look like the springers have shown up in any force yet, I'll be targeting sturgeon.  Anyone is welcome.  I'll be at my local dino hole just off George Rogers park bright and early.

Deepcolor, yea I do work Saturday. But if you keep on posting when you are going out for Sturgeon (And Springers) I would be into getting out as soon as my schedule permits.

With the change in time happening this weekend, I'll start to look for Willy springers after work pretty soon, especially Tuesdays. Typically I'll launch at the pier under the Hawthorne bridge (thanks Wali) or at Oaks Bottom Park in Sellwood.

Deepcolor: How long will you be on the water?

Steelheadr: I work about 3 blocks from the Hawthorne. You talking SW?

I believe Steelheader is referring to the these "piers" under the Hawthorne Bridge.

I wonder how far the parking is from the launch site?

I realize that's a rhetorical question, but the near parking is pay as you go and a couple hundred yards away is some free parking spaces along the road.

Yep, as Brian said, there is a large pay lot right on the Esplande. However, the street parking leading to the lot is free. Either way, it is about a 2 minute walk to the pier. The only problem with the street parking is that it is fairly limited.

From that pier on the Northeast of the picture to your car is about 70' in the pay parking lot under the I-5. The street parking is a bit further and VERY regulated. For me, it's worth the $4.
Monday is a fine possibility (assuming I can get over my weather wussisity ::) )

I only have chest waders do you all think that is sufficient?

Bad L,

I'll be out as soon as I wake up to about 1pm at earliest.  If I'm into fish, I'll stay longer.

Chest waders and a rain jacket are what I use most of the time.  Just make sure you're wearing a wading belt and have it cinched up properly.  Oh yeah, and a properly adjusted PFD.

Good Luck if you go!
