I'll be at Beverly Beach State Park for Spring Break.  At this juncture I plan to take my kayak with me to explore the Yaquina Bay with.  I may try playing in the surf zone out in front of Beverly Beach just to get some practice.

If anyone in the area would like to meet up, lemme know.  8)

Count me in! I'm going through withdrawls from a lack of saltyness.
I was planning on checking out Depoe Bay but I'd be happy with Newport as long as the tides aren't swingin too hard. We still are a few days out from getting a good read on the winds and seas, but Friday looks good at this point.

I will be at Beverly Beach on the 24th and will be leaving sometime on the 25th to head further north for a couple of days more.  I will not be bring my kayak this time around since it will be more of a family vacation.

I will look for you guys while I am their to chew the fat!  I will be in a lifted white Chevy Silverado pulling a white trailblazer trailer.

I'll be getting there sometime after 1pm, as I will be getting home from work around 830am, doing final packing, and then driving roughly 3 hours.
We'll be in the H loop either #21 or #22.

Be on the lookout for this truck and camper, towing a utility trailer with a mango T13 strapped onto it.

Just talked to the wife and the boss say's we will be staying in G-36.  It sounds like we might cross paths before leaving north to Nehalem Bay State Park for a few three more nights.

We are going to eat lunch and then head out around checkout time.  Hopefully we can meet before then.  Its to bed we were not staying another night we could have BS'd over a few brews.

Easy fix, change your plans.   :headbang:

I'll hopefully get down there before you leave, but don't miss the bus waiting for me.  All my loading up has to take place on Wednesday morning after a 12 hour night shift, then the drive down from Forest Grove.

So INSAYN and I ended up launching out of Devils Punch Bowl. Toughest part of the whole day for me, and I'm sure Craig may agree with me, was the stairs! SHEEESH! Next time, I'm bringing the mini-x!

Conditions were fair... not really any wind but the swells definitely showed up. We launched at low tide and it was a little dicey going out. I took a nice one over the bow with a nice cup-'o-saltyness to start my day right! We stayed in pretty close for the most part. Mainly the result of the roller coaster of a ride it would have been to go out too far. There was a nice lee caused by the reef right off the coast and had great kelp so we hung out there. Managed a greenling and a black. Surf was pretty fun on the way back in since the tide had come up. Once we were back on the beach, I headed out and played in the surf for a while. By the time we were about to leave, there was no surf to speak of where we had launched and returned earlier. Great day to be a surfer as there were plenty of them.

Here's a pic of the reef we were hanging out at from the lookout above DPB

This is what the surf looked like by the time we were packed up and leaving... a friggin lake!

This was just one of my favs of the other pics I took

Nice job..  Why do all the good spot have to be down a nasty bunch of stairs or a steep slope ???..

The swell was to big up here near Tillamook. The ocean looked doable (thurs and friday) but what the big swells were doing on the beach as they marched ashore kept my on the sand. The surfers were happy though, lots of folks playing on those big swells.

Nice report!  Thanks for providing the pics and information.  I definately want to fish Devils Punchbowl.  Newport area is looking pretty good for all the options in angling.  Yaquina Bay, Jetty, Devils Punchbowl, Depoe Bay...anyone tried off of Fogarty Creek State Park (beach)?

I definately want to fish Devils Punchbowl.

Make sure you pack light and stretch your legs well before making the trip up and down those stairs with your boat & gear! I woke up the other morning and I could barely walk! :'(

Funny you mentioned that, I actually stopped and scouted it out on my way back home. I'll upload some pics on a reply a little later but it most certainly looks do-able.

Looks like you guys had a pretty good time while you were here - I saw you out there bobbing around.  I'd have joined up but am getting over bronchitis.

Next time.

Looks like y'all had a great time, but I warned you about the stairs did'nt I? ;D
I think we need to figure out something with a rope and a pulley because they are no fun at all especially with a yak!

A surfer pointed out to me (Read: Saved my neck!)  that there is a rip that runs along the point and makes it easy to get out and in even with good surf (exactly where those guys are paddling out in your pic).  Works like a chairlift going out and flattens the waves for a smooth landing.
