How about some Kayak Friendly Launch Location listings?

  • Kelly Point St Park - Kelly Park Rd, off N Marine Drive. you'll want a cart to get you to the beach, but easy access at the mouth of the Willamette and right on to the Columbia
  • Gillman Launch - Sauvies Island. Public boat launch that drops you right into the Multnomah Channel. Requires parking pass that you can pick up at the lil store when you get onto the island
  • Ferry St. Boat Ramp - Sauvie Island.  No parking permit required at this county launch.  Two miles downstream from the bridge along the channel (across from the wildlife office)
  • Fred's Marina - Hwy 30/Marine Rd. Just outside of Linnton, popular place for launching into the Multnomah Channel.
  • Cathedral Park - N Bradford, right under the St. Johns Bridge. A public boat launch, which can be busy. Can also use the public dock just a block away
  • Portland Boathouse Dock - SE Water & Clay, by OMSI. Long sidewalk down to dock right on the water. I think parking can be a bit more difficult though
  • Power Boat Dock - SE Water & Madison. Another sidewalk to dock.  Parking under the bridge at public lots.
  • Willamette Park - SW Macadam & Nebraska. Powerboat Show sometimes. Parking is now $10 a day!
  • Sellwood Park and Oaks Park - SE Oaks Park Way. Two locations next to each other.  Easy paved paths to docks. Parking is free!
  • Staff Jennings - Under the Sellwood Bridge @ Macadam. Launch and parking are free, and in rough shape, but could be much worse
  • Waterfront Park - 99E and SE Jefferson, Milwaukie. Can be a boat show some times, but an easy launch near good fishing water
  • River Villa Park - Oak Grove.  Rough primitive launching, but you can get to the water if you have a good cart. Rocky and grassy, you'll need a good cart.
  • George Rodgers Park - Hwy 43, Lake Oswego. Another free launch site, mostly paved till you get to the sandy beach.
  • Dahl and Clackemette Parks - SE Maclaughlin, Gladston/Oregon City. Again, possible boat shows, but fairly easy access to the water.  Dahl is north of the Clackamas River, with Clackemette Park on the south.  Cleackemette is the only one of the two with a public launch. You'll need a good cart at Dahl

Definitely not fully inclusive, but its a start... Anyone have places to add? Lets get them on the list![/list]

I take the prone paddleboard down there a lot.  Usually see 1-2 sizable fish jump during my early AM paddles.  It doesn't see to be too popular with the fishermen, though.  A lot of floating homes, but some "wild" stretches between the ramp and the bridge.  Heading downstream from the ramp offers good bird watching, and guaranteed eagle sightings.  Strangely tidal and can offer unpleasant upstream hauls at times.
