There was one table w/some normal looking people. The high ratio of dudes w/goatees made me suspect some of them were fishermen. I had ridden my bike there and was fairly soggy. If I had to squeeze in anywhere I was going to soak folks. Next time.

Maybe next time I'll wear my dry suit  :tongue3:

I should be able to make it this time.  I would like to try the Lucky Lab place, we might want to come up with a plan though just incase we're overpowered by some other group!  :D  If not, I'd also be ok with Pietros.

I guess it depends on the group size...
Large group (>8) = Pietro's or Lucky lab on a non-game night.
Small group = any decent brewpub in Portland would work.

I found this regarding a "meetup" for board game playing in Portland.

Looks like board game night is every Thursday night at Lucky Lab.

We should consider another venue for Thursday nights, or maybe a new night for Lucky Lab.

Brian, You can count me in this time around. Should we just try pietro's again? Pietro's is big enough for pretty much anysize group. Fish on!

Pietro's is a fine location with plenty of room for us.  The beer however is a bit sub-par for Portland and there are so many other options.  I think I may be becoming a beer snob.

Anyway, Pietro's it is, unless someone can come up with a better venue.   If we have another small group like last month, any brew pub would work just fine.

I agree with you on the beer, they sure could use help from the community.  ::)

The Lab in Multnomah Village has a real nice room, too bad they want a hundred bucks, however it's upstairs/private and you get your own server. Maybe when the group gets bigger. In the same hood, The Cider Mill has a lot of room in the back when there's no live music, plus wicked fried chicken/spuds and a full bar. Went to skool and used to be roomies w/Toby the owner. He's a nice kid, I try and throw him a bone on the rare occasion I leave my domicile for libations.

The Lucky Lab on Hawthorne also has a private room for about $100.

I haven't heard of the Cider Mill, but it sounds like an option.

Here's another option.. Laughing Planet (several locations).  I'm fond of the one near me in Woodstock primarily because they are kid friendly.  If figure if they can handle kids well they can handle a bunch of kayak anglers.

I don't know how busy they are on Thursday evenings, but they have a great beer selection on tap (Ninkasi and Terminal Gravity to name a few) and decent burritos (wraps actually as they aren't typically Mexican), bowls and salads.

They have a few large tables and  you help yourself to setting.

That sounds pretty cool.
I'd be willing to go with that.
