which also brings up the idea; why didnt they ban felt  soled wading boots for river fishermen? thats gotta be a perfect hiding and tag along spot for the invasive larvae... anyone know if Simms is doing retrofits on their wading boots from felt soles to rubber studs?

Simms is in the process of dropping felt boots from their product line. More and more producers are selling rubber soled boots. I wouldn't be surprised to see states start banning felt.

Sounds like we'll need to hire streamside shoe inspectors soon.  ;)  That's good for the economy, right?

WA already passed the bonus fees for the Columbia system, so that we can have more (or, at least, continue having) fish checkers. Would be no big deal to add felt checking to their duties! More education will be the first step, anyways.

That phrase sounds like an oxymoron to me...  ;)

We already did/do on the Deschutes.  I'm not sure they're still doing that program, but for awhile there there were folks manning inspection and wader cleaning stations.

Yeah, Spot, not sure how it effects a paddleboard.  Not gonna get into a war of linguistics with the marine patrol, though.  No winning there.  I'll get lippy with the first pot bellied, aviator wearing bubba in a state funded jet sled, but will likely succumb to the law once I get nailed.  I'll then get my secret law breaker delights through illicit parking lot beers and subsequent public nudity.

Public nudity is good!  I love those after surf changes on the road.  So do those frustrated MILFs.

Thanks to all for the heads up! I was checked by the river patrol near Ferry Hole on the Rogue and he seemed surprised that I had it, I just presented it - he didn't ask for it. Again thanks.

BUMP....

Just a reminder to get your invasive species permits.

Last Saturday on the Willamette, the OSP was checking everybody specifically for their invasive species permits.

Pics from the PNW Sportsmen's Show. Can you identify the invasive species in each photo?

Second picture the invasive species is trouseris troutus, but you can't see it.

Update for 2011...
The Oregon Marine Board recently decided it would also provide an option for a tyvek aquatic species prevention tag.   This tag comes direct from the marine board so you don't have to pay the service fee charged when you buy it from your local fishing license agent.  I've sent an email to the Marine Board to find out if I can exchange my paper permit for a tyvek one.   You can also purchase a 2 year tyvek permit.

Here's the application.
http://www.boatoregon.com/OSMB/Clean/docs/Boating_public_order_form_2011.pdf

Here's some text from the application...
Quote
Beginning in 2010, operators of manually powered boats 10’ in length or longer in Oregon must carry an Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit aboard their boat.  Funds generated by the fee are used to implement a statewide invasive species prevention program designed to protect Oregon’s waters, fisheries and the environment.
To simplify compliance with this new law the boating public may now purchase Aquatic Invasive Species Permits directly from the OSMB with no service fee charged.  In addition, new for 2011, these permits will be issued as Tyvek tags and are available as either a one or two year permit.
If affixed to or stored in a boat, the permit must be easily accessible so it can be shown to a
law enforcement officer upon request.  These Tyvek tags maintain the transferability feature
offered with the original paper permit and no longer contain any personal information.
