Monday and Tuesday next week look like great days to fish.  Not much rain between now and then so river levels should be manageable as well.

Anyone up for some Wynoochee action?

My buddy has me "on call" for sometime fairly soon. I'm more or less obligated. We might go somewhere tomorrow, but not sure yet.
Otherwise, maybe we'll be bumping into you on the river on M or T.

As I read this, it's pissing down over here on Vashon!!  Where would you be launching from???  And what kinda gear----floats/jigs?  Egg clusters??  Spinners???

We didn't go today. Still no definite plan.
KT, you can hardly beat roe clusters under a float, or a steelhead jig, tipped with a small egg cluster, under a float. Fish your jig or bait so that it runs about a foot off the bottom.
Some people toss metal for metlheads, but they are usually dedicated hard-core spoon/spinner freaks, like that guy Herzog.
If you want to maximize your chances for getting a bite, try roe under a float.

That's the Whitebridge to Black Creek run. Last week, we pulled out at the ramp where you began your float.  I'll bet there's some boats on that stretch today. And the non-football fans who work during the week will prolly be there tomorrow.

I heard a rumor that a slide occured on the 'Nooch and its "puking whole trees and mud." I take those rumors with a grain of salt, and try to verify 'em. My buddy confirmed that the Nooch was off color yesterday, though, and said we'll prolly hit "some river" on  M or T.

Didn't say which one, yet. He loves to keep me in the dark, probably to insure the prevention of info "leaks." Living a close as he does to the 'Nooch, he'll probably drive up and take a looksee at both the Nooch and the Satsop to scope out what the water looks like before deciding. Then he might even hit me with something like, "Lets do the Hoh!"

Lee, I'll let you know what we are doing, as soon as I find out. Might have to shoot you a PM, to help prevent major leaks. Should know by tomorrow early evening, at the latest.

Lee, you are welcome to float along with us. I'm not sure if I can do both days. Otherwise I'd offer to float a stretch with you in my U-12 on the "other" day. The 7400 line to Whitebridge run is a long one, about 13.5 river miles, and has a couple of tricky sections, but otherwise is about as mellow as the run you did.

Yesterday, I finally crawled from my cave down by the tar pits, and activated my first cell phone. Its mainly for fishing hookups and related logistics, and emergencies. E-mail and my land line are still my main portals. I'll PM you my home and cell numbers if we decide to hook up for a float.

Lee, just now found out we're going Tuesday.  I'd e-mailed him earlier, and he just now got back to me.  Somewhere on the Nooch.  He likes to hire a shuttle service, but I can bring my rig and park it at the bottom ramp of whatever float we're doin', which is  a good place to meet up, anyway. I'll have my yakima saddles and tie down stuff, so I can shuttle you back to your rig after the float. Details to come, as soon as I get 'em.  But it will likely be a 6:30 am rendevous, so we can be launching by 7.

I got skunked fishing from the Jetty here today.  I hiked out, but not far enough. Its gettin to be slimmer pickens out there these days, with more people fishing. The good water is too far a hike for my old knees any more, as the going gets really gnarly out further. Any much further beyond where I went today, it becomes worthwhile to go to the trouble to launch a yak and paddle out to the better fishing.

Can't complain, though. It was sunny and warm here (T-shirt weather, in the low-mid 50's), but I could see rain clouds up against the hills and nearly everywhere else. We had a nice "blue hole" above the Harbor today.

Which section of the river are you doing?  I think I should stick to the lower section that I already know.

If you guys are doing the upper section I'll just hang out at American Lake.

Lee, I just got home and got a phonecall from my friend. We're meeting at Black Creek at 6:30am. That will be our take-out. We'll be doing the float you did last week.  I am leaving now to see if i can hunt down some sandshrimp on the mudflats. I only saw a couple of burrows on the beach where I was at earlier. Gotta go. I have to visit the marine supply store, too. I'll pm you my cell and home #, and then get back to you later.

Going to end up going to American Lake.  I'll be putting in at the launch adjacent to Camp Murray if anyone wants to join me.  Fishing the south end of the lake - should be easy to find me.

CHM and his buddy wanted to meet up too early for my tastes.  I didn't feel like waking up at 0400 and being super cold.  I slept in, got out to American Lake around 10, and landed a 24 inch rainbow.  I'll upload pictures when I unload the car and find my camera.
