T140 "the resurrection"
« on: February 10, 2010, 12:16:43 pm »
I paddle a T140 that has seen more than its fair share of adventure and was way over due for some wintertime love, so, it was off for some time at the GWKC day spa for kayaks.
the FF hadnt worked in awhile due to a ugly combo of corrosion,my sub par wiring work, and other general mayhem.
I also hadnt had foot pegs since I blew them out in the surf in June 2008.
SBD did a masterful job of reopening the third eye and replacing the track for the missing foot pegs with an upgrade. This really brought this boat back to life.
Thanks Sean!
Also wanted to note the hull quality of the WS boats.
After numerous beatings this boat still lays down of groovy glide.

Once back in the lair it was my turn to go to work arranging the guts of the boat and tackling a long over due project to deal with the WS tupperware hatch.
I never liked having that rubber hatch behind my seat. It never came off but I never really trusted it, especially when it was hot. I upgraded the hatch and should rest easier now.
Ive been wanting a more accurate system for measuring water temps so I moved the transducer back so I have access to the temp probe that I can take out to get readings at different depths.
And finally, running my loose wires through pool noodles and securing my battery box in place as well as the rest of my below deck gear.
here are more visuals.

 :o Couldn't resist...

Is the new hatch cover in a spot that gets direct sunlight?  You might get a lens effect or at the very least get the inside volume much hotter than normal....  you might want to rattlecan the underside of it.

that is an interesting thought. this boat already gets molten hot due to the color and the places I like to paddle. ill watch for the lens effect.

I don't think the lens will be any worse than sunlight on that dark color.  Light shining through will likely hit plastic that's being cooled by water on the other side.  :)

during this last stretch of nice weather we took the ressurected boat out for a test.
All ops were smooth and the lens effect was ,as suspected, a non issue.
still, thanks for the thought.
Id been fishing blind for so long Id almost forgotten how useful sonar was.
The warm springs bubbles showed up clearly as well as the fish that are hunkered down around them. tried to get a few photos of the screen but all I ended up with was pictures of my reflection holding a camera.
good times were had then we headed back to the launch to take down another kind of victim.
