I had some time between Valdez and heading up to Nootka Sound so Fishin-T, snag-a-but, and I stopped by Sombrio Beach for a few days.

Fishing was decent ... well, ok as far as Sombrio goes.  We didn't stick any big lings but had a decent pick of underlings and barely legals.  Black rockfish were also on the chew, and we picked some quillbacks and coppers.  Lot's of greenlings too.  The real story was of some pig cabs that I landed.  The first day out on the water I landed the biggest cab I've caught so far at 12#.  While weighing it, my rod was in the holder and it doubled over again.  This time a 15# cab came up.  The next day I got another cab a couple ounces bigger.

The first shot is of the 2 the first day.  The second shot shows the size of the second cab better.  The third shot is of the largest in my lap.

The cabs were caught on small curly tails and split tails in motor oil and rootbeer on 1.5 ounce slim jigheads.  I caught them on spinning tackle ... a Lamiglas LK76020S Kayak Fishing rod with a Shimano spinning reel.

And as usual, the Sombrio scenery was stunning including a beautiful moonrise.

Correctamundo Zee, those are some fat cab's and they're gona make ME fat cause they're in my freezer along with some black bass, Quill backs and a Copper. I believe they will go nicely deep fried.

Fishin-T and Polepole were under the assumption that this fish would make it up to Moutcha Bay for the derby  ??? FOOLS  >:D >:D >:D

Nice pix Allen, I eventually found my camera in my work truck >:( >:( at least I'll have it for Moutcha Bay
