Sorry everyone for starting so late on getting plans solidified. I think we still have plenty of time to make this happen and the prizes, fishing for crab, rockfish, and salmon-and just plain getting on down w/ the NWKA boyz and ladiez should make this a real fun one.

So looking over the campgrounds they're all pretty much full. The closest I can find is the Astoria/Seaside KOA. It's a pretty full featured "camping" set up there but will be nice for sure. There's quite a few cabins and a few tent sites available. Most sites have a max of 8 people per site so might be a good idea to get some groups together for each space.

Any other ideas for HQ camp spots?

Does anyone have recent experience with reserving a campsite at the state park.  I haven't been there since it was Fort Canby SP - back in 1999.   The web site hasn't been much help.  Not as intuitive as Oregon SP's website and  reservation system and it appears there is nothing reservable.  I might add - I first tried this at least 6 weeks ago.

Any info. on accommodations would be appreciated  8)

EDIT:  Thanks for the information on Astoria KOA - will take a look at that.

Yeah, the reason why it won't work is that all sites are reserved. The site is a little weird too. I usually go through www.reserveamerica.com as their site is very easy to use and can reserve pretty much any site in the USA.

I'm calling the State Parks people about all the sites around the lake.  They aren't marked "reserved", they are all in yellow, which generally means first come first serve, but I'll find out.

Ok, so I confirmed that those are First Come, First Served sites - specifically the ones in yellow at the State Park:

Yeah Oregon State Park reservations for the summer weekends go pretty quickly.  In fact, I'm missing this tournament because my family has a camping trip that we planned in February because we wanted to be sure we could reserve a spot.   Midweek isn't hard to find spots and sometimes if you show up on a Thursday you can acquire the no reserve spots through the weekend.  By Friday they're usually gone.

Hopefully you'll be able to find an alternative camping option for this.

Meanwhile, we should probably work something out for the salmon tournament later in the summer very soon.

Is the HQ going to be at that KOA?  By "HQ", I mean pot luck, drinking, awards ceremony stuff.

I thought Washington was 6" for legal male crab, not 5 3/4".  Did this change?

Depends where you drop the trap

I was informed today by my @$$#@!* asst-manager-newly-turned-head-manager that all my time off requests after the Crab Tourney weekend have been denied... 3+ months after my requests...

So, this will be my last tourney of the year.

WR - everything at the park that can be reserved is reserved.  The only thing left is first come first serve sites around the lake.

I'm bummed because I just realized I will be in Chicago for a wedding the weekend of the CD tourney.  Wedding season keeps screwing up my fishing plans!  But I'll be interested to hear what you guys haul up.  Side note...there's a guy with a stand in the parking lot of Waikiki beach who sells fresh, hot wood-fire pizzas.  If you get a chance, try one.  They are incredible!

Campsite for the Dungie tournament and Crab Feast has been set. It will be at Kampers West in Warrenton. www.kamperswest.com Reservations online or: 1(800) 880-5267. They've got 11 tent sites open still so if you're planning to attend get your reservations now. They've got great facilities with fish cleaning stations and most importantly a crab cooking station. It'd still be nice to have a few crab cookers of our own so if you have a big propane stove and pot to donate we'd appreciate it!
