OK guys, there was a lot of talk after the Rockfish Classic about having significant others manning the weigh station thruout the day, taking entry forms and updating a leader board etc.  It's time to put yer money where yer mouth is.  Grin

In order to make this event all that it should be, we'll need some volunteers to man the launch thruout the day so that late entries have somewhere to file their waivers.  That person or persons would also provide an initial weigh in as people come off the water and maintain the results on the on-site leader board.

If we can find enough volunteers we'd also like to like to post a "mirror" booth at pier 39 to maintain a leader board for powerboaters, tourists, locals and local business to follow the action.

Any takers?

Mark, let me check my calendar to make sure I can be there. If so, I'll gladly volunteer to work on tourney day.

Thanks Jay, but does this mean you won't be flexing your salmon catching mojo along side the rest of us?!?!?   Embarrassed

Anyone else?

Lee, can send your girlfriend (and her friends) down to Astoria while you're out of town that weekend?  Evil

Insayn, DTS, Yarjammer?

I recall you guys mentioning that your wives might be willing to help out after the Rockfish Derby.....   Kiss

Dear Spot,

No.  Also, go play in traffic!   Tongue

I have some suggestions for our tournaments next year, that would help with this kind of stuff.  Also have some ideas to make AOTY better, but I'm going to save that stuff for winter when people are in front of their computers more.

You can count me for a maybe right now. I'll know for sure in a couple of weeks. Pretty sure I'll be beached with my kid that day, so I should be able to man the docks or something of the sort with her in tow.

I may be able to as well.  I am not 100 % sure yet. Being relatively new to the area, I have little salmon fishing experience so I could watch and learn.  Oh, and probably drink some beer. Grin

Damn, is anybody going to be fishing?!?!?

Craig, no excuses.  Salmon trolling is easy.  Get out there and fish!

I'm in for this one.  I don't have much experience or success with fishing for salmon yet, so I'd like to stay focused on actually fishing, and not weighing in other people's catches...

That said, I'd be happy to help out after I catch my limit...

Welcome aboard Mike!

All,

In case you guys weren't aware, Konezone is a locally owned (Oregon) fishing gear manufacturer.   They have a bunch of really innovative products such as the low-drag konezone flashers I reviewed last year and a killer kokanee lure I'm looking forward to adapting for surf zone Coho called the "SquidderDun UV Spinner Rig".  In addition, they've recently added a "Kayak Accessories" section to their website.  While there are currently only a couple of products listed, it tells me that Mike takes us and our sport seriously.

Those flashers are great.  They have no noticeable drag and come pre-rigged with bead chain swivels on BOTH sides of the flasher.  Add a good lock swivel the the tail and and you're set.
