The Sea of Cortez has some of the most beautiful anchorages in the world.  Getting on anchor in the evening meant it was time to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and just do whatever you wanted.

We stayed in this protected bay a couple of times.  The Sea Fortuna is at the top left.

At the  head of the bay is an isthmus, on the other side of which is another bay.  We stayed there one night too.

The hike up to take these pics was a welcome break to stretch your legs after spending a full day on a rocking boat.

Just watch out for the cactus.

Or if all you wanted to do was cool down, the rocky reefs in the area were prime snorkeling.  Lots of schooling reef fish and even some eel and octopus sightings.  Plenty of scallops in the rocks too.

Even Bushy got in the water!

Of course, if you wanted to still keep fishing you could.  Plenty of fish to make the 12# outfit a lot of fun.  Whether on the kayaks.  Ladyfish!

Or off the boat on the anchor.  This pargo hit right as we were about to lose light for the evening.

Once the light went down, we had a raging croaker bite.  Must have caught a hundred of those things.

I guess it was time to crack another beer too.

Allen,

Screensaver is set to show random photos - and this one caught my eye just now.  Thought you would recognize the rack and the gaff.  Wish I was there now.

I was looking through some old pics last night and the thought occurred to me that I never really finished this report.  Looking back, things are a bit of a blur.

Did I mention a lot of nice cabrilla were caught on this trip?

And some nice yellowtail?

And a pargo or 2?

One morning in particular, it was late in the trip, and we decided to work our way back toward La Paz.  As we were leaving the harbor, we saw these birds working.

Bam!  It results in this.

Make a pass on the birds again and I'm on.

!@#$-ing Jack ... still a tough fight!

Made a few passes for more of the same.  Never did find the yellowtail again.

How about a few random shots of the Sea Fortuna before I finally end this report?  Our home for a week!!

In signing off I give you ...

Errr ... how did that get in there?  Well, that's Tom's foot on the left flipping you off and Chris' foot on the right crossing his pinky by itself.

How about a real Baja signoff?
