Today was the best day of 2011 so far!

Team Roy was finally reunited on the water and we ripped some serious lips!

The day started slow on the fishing but the conditions were good and getting better.  I fished alone for the first couple hours  Jigged up a few blacks  and had a nice take down on a live bait that didn't stay buttoned. Lost that rig when i got hung up so i started jigging again. Barely got the jig to the bottom when the monster Lingdaddy practically swallowed the Big Hammer swim bait i was using(did i mention how much i like these baits?).

After i got him up, i lip gripped him, hauled him into the drive well between my legs and thats when the fun really began! He rolled and flopped and the fraking thing was back in the water! Luckily with jig and teathered grippers still firmly attached...I quickly regained control and subdued the beast with a couple wacks of the stroker. Ended up 32 1/2 inches and about 13 pounds!

Caught that cool looking greenling.

After Royg showed up we whacked the blacks and greenlings for a couple hours, mostly quality fish over 15 inchers.

Sucks i didn't have the vid cam  on for the Ling lap dance or the 19 inch cabbie i caught on the light tackle

It was a great day!

See ya on the water..
Roy

What lure did you have on?

It looks like some of em bass grubs w/ multiple tails.

Great video BTW

For most the light gear fishing i was using a small motor oil 2 inch squid on a 1/4  ounce jighead, used it today too. Caught probably 30-40 on the same one! that thing is  a lucky jig been snagged a ton of times and keep getting it back. Thats what i call a good return on my investment.

...today was pretty awesome too! not like yesterday though...
See ya on the water..

While CBY and Yaksurf headed off to Simpson reef on Monday, I stayed behind and fished with Royg. The wind picked up early and made fishing difficult, seeing as how I paddle. Ended up with 5 nice blacks, and CnR an underling and undercabbie. Had a slight upgrade on my black at 19 1/2 inches.
