The Milkcrate Magazine - Issue 2
« on: November 28, 2011, 09:54:03 am »
The Milkcrate Magazine, issue 2, is now available.  Shameless self promotion aside, you may be interested in this particular offering, as it features none other than the illustrious and often entertaining......

Wali (AKA Fishesfromtupperware) Gomes!

It also features what I believe to be my favorite answer given to the inquiry of milkcrate contents:

"Besides the usual tackle and food and radios and sonar and GPS and rods and reels and paddles, is hope. I see it on the faces of others all the time. That look, just as you sit down in the saddle getting ready to push off. The look of, man, here we go. Nothing but the hope of a great day and some real fun. If I take this with me in the milkcrate, I will be open to surprises and gratitude for all I have."  -Craig Davis

Here's a more official blurb about what it is that we're up to in this particular issue:

In Issue 2 of The Milkcrate, we examine the trail left by the sport of kayak angling as it spread from the beaches of the modern day founders to the four corners of the North American continent. Anglers from Canada, California, the gulf coast, and the Northeastern seaboard weave portraits of their unique ports of call, and, through their stories, illustrate the commonalities within the global context of our sport. Craig Davis, Richard Ofner, Danny Viscardo, and Wali Gomes are featured.

Thanks, guys.  This was a fun issue to put together.  They're a great bunch of guys.  And Richard's girlfriend takes some amazing pics of the sport.

The Milkmen sometimes find themselves in possession of certain photographs.  Sometimes they have something to do with kayak angling.  And sometimes they feature the type of stellar imagery necessary to combat The Mondays.

Enjoy.

Issue 3 is now available.  The theme is "innovation", and we found some great personification of the word.

Luther Cifers, Jeff Krieger, and Ed Halm are featured.

Time to warm things up a bit and head to Hawaii.  The latest issue of The Milkcrate is out, and this time we're chatting with some of the 50th state's most prolific talent:

This issue of The Milkcrate gathers conversations with four of Hawaii's most accomplished kayak anglers. Through their words and pictures, we celebrate the traditions, achievements, and values of record-setters, tournament champions, and ambassadors of the sport. Andy Cho, Isaac Brumaghim, Chris Paglinawan, and David "Boogie-D Elgas are featured.

This thread is still going?  I have been trying to spare ya'all the shameless self-promotion.  But yeah, we're still going.  This week's theme is indeed Hobie.  A couple-a team members, a fishing products manager, and a lead engineer.  All interviews will be rolled out by Thursday.

Thanks for still reading the thing.
