If any of you guys are wanting in on a NorCal tournament I'd love to welcome some NWKA members to the event.  Registration and info on all activity surrounding the event is available at NCKA here:

Last year a 48" pacific halibut anchored the winning stringer.  We use AOTY type scoring and target halibut, salmon, lingcod, rockfish, cabezon and greenling.  Some 20 pound lings and 10 pound cabs were brought in last year too, and we're always hoping for a salmon bite to happen during the tournament.  Hope to welcome you to Shelter Cove in May.   :)

The Outdoors is a place where we can discover ourselves, share with others, appreciate Nature, and grow into better people.  Or...  we can focus on killing, hoard the good spots and hot bites, take Nature for granted and abuse it, and allow our ego's to dominate us.  Some will fall squarely at the extremes of my descriptions, and nearly all of us have experienced aspects of either extreme.  For me, it's about recognizing where I am in regard to that spectrum and making necessary adjustments.

Here's a slideshow of the first 5 gatherings:

I'm mega tempted, but that's a heck of a haul not to mention right in the middle of springer season.  I will have to ruminate on it a bit.

Right on, guys - follow the thread over at NCKA and get down with us if you can.  It's a really good time - we've been lucky to have some great fishing, but the family and group gatherings are the best, and the setting is pretty hard to beat.

It's an event I'd love to attend, Allen, but I doubt I'll make it out of Humboldt County more than twice.   :)

Eric, what's the camping arrangement down there?

Last year the campground cordoned off a large area for our group and charged $20/head/night.  The sites are small and people in previous years were overflowing their boundaries in individual sites (it's basically a fishing camp that is only yards from the launch and fish cleaning station).  I think they'll likely extend that offer again.

I had planned to attend the Albion Open this year, but had already scheduled a week long trip down the Willamette River with DTS and our daughters on about the same dates.  So, I may be able to make the GS6 if I can talk a buddy or two into sharing the drive down.  Probably make the trip down on Thursday, and head home Sunday(ish).  Roughly 10-11 hrs from my place per Google map.

Lemme see what kind of crew I can conjure up.   8)

I saw the Chartroom rig in Eureka the other day and thought of you!   :)

Grand prize for the tournament is an RTM Abaco.
