here is on of the spots I want to try but apparently its polluted, and of course I wont be fishing in the no fish zone it is supposed to be good flownder/crabbing  around here...

I defenitely want to get out in the ocean, after giving it some thought I am taking the safe boaters course, reading the Transport Canada Sea Kayaking Guide (available on their website) and installing a electric bilge pump.
this should get me out there safely.

Out of curiosity which NuCanoe model do you have, the NuCanoe 10?

It seems like the NuCanoe Frontier has scupper holes but the other NuCanoes don't.

Theres a consumption advisory for crab hepatopancreas (crab butter) in the Howe Sound. Most pollutants end up there so avoid the goo! If you clean your crabs before cooking you should have no problem.

Since it doesn't have scupper holes, you might want to consider going with some sort of pumping system. Guys who use whitewater open canoes have a lot of experience with this and there are a few different setups. Basically, you can flip them on and empty the boat in a matter of seconds.

The biggest consideration is if you start getting waves over the bow, you are going to keep getting waves over the bow for a long long time. Its not just one, then you have a few minutes to bail before the second one comes and ruins all your work. Itll be one right after another after another

also I wont be crabbing in that area ant time soon. probably going to hit the island in june or july and try for hali and salmon.

sorry correction, I will be crabbing in the porteau cove area pretty soome. after a lot of research and talking to department of fishieries canada the crab in that area are safe to eat and the area in from of the camsite is closed to fishing because its a "unique underweater habitiat area". in other words its a scuba dive park which is fine by me as I will be fishing well away from the closed area.

if I missed something let me know but it looks to be safe to eat crabs in howe sound unless this was 1993 LOL
