Nice. Where were you guys fishing at? Or did you just go out to break ice?

Cool!

I had some pretty good duck shoots by busting a 4' diameter hole and plopping down 2 decoys. Every duck in the area would buzz by to see if the open water.
it's better to be lucky than good

We were up at the Clatsop County Lost Lake off Lower Nehalem Road south of Highway 26 and we mostly just busted ice. Fishing was done, but no catching.  We had a big steelhead tease us at the end when it did 6 tail walks right in front of  the ramp as we were packing up.  It is a beautiful lake and I think I will fish it again with my boys when it warms up a bit.

I know it well. I had the same experience with the steelhead in there, they drove me completely insane trying to catch one. Nice lake.

You have only been on the forum since last March?  Seems like it has been longer than that.  Wow, you went from the SINK to the Tarpon then a Hobie in less than six months.  That is a lot of boats in less than one year.  Sounds like someone is truly addicted.

Also, cool pictures Sinker.  I had a problem with my camera yesterday so I didn't get any good ones.  I had dropped it a couple weeks ago and I think I damaged the lens. I think I may put some padding in its drybag.  I did get some good video.  I just haven't got a chance to edit it.

Yup. Certainly no doubt about the addiction part. We'll see if I can make it through 2012 without picking up another boat  ;D

Wow it look Cooooooooooold. Wish I could have joined you guys but alas I am still at work pulling a 48. Was the ice thin enough that you were able to get your lines in the water? I tried to send you guys a PM with pictures of the lake that I took last October but Zee let me know that you cant just post pics like we do on the Forum. Here she is in a not frozen state.

The Ice only covered about 1/3 of the lake.  We were able to plow through any part of it with the mirage drives.  Would not of been able to get to far without them though.   ;)  Them Mirage drives are powerfull!  After busting through a bunch of ice I started to wonder what kind of damage I might be doing to the bottom of the kayak or marage drive, but it turns out that it did not cause any damage.  The ice on the back end of the lake was about a half inch thick.  If I can figure out the video editing stuff I'll post a video of it.  With the sun out all day it wasn't to bad as far as the cold goes.

Had a great time out there with you guy's!  That breaking ice was worth the trip in itself.  OK I am easily amused.  ;D

That looks like you all had quite a "cool" trip.

Prior to our getting skunked, we had a beautiful view of Saddleback Mountain.

Here is a video of using the Outback as an ice breaker. I think I am now qualified to deliver fuel oil to Nome, AK. :)
Unfortunately, the closest any of us got to catching a fish was me chasing DTS's jointed Rapalla with the GoPro at the end.

Fantastic. You guys could have broke the ice for that tanker going to Nome instead of the Coast Guard icebreaker. You'd be the new saviors of Nome. An achievment not done since the early 1900's hauling a vaccination to the illness plagued city. :headbang:

Great footage Craig. I liked that I could enjoy the scenery without being distracted by a bunch of fish  >:D
