Kayak names
« on: February 09, 2012, 06:12:15 pm »
Hello everyone, I'm wondering if anyone else names their kayaks? I'm looking for 15-20 good names to put on the fleet.

Mostly looking for funny or cool names of any kind, especially kayak related. I have a few, but need lots more! Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!

So far:

Sea Hippy (my main boat)
Sea Esta
Sea Hag
One Aye
Swell Time
Take Two (tandem)
Drifter

I've only named two of my 4 so far. My Fish 'n' Dive has been dubbed "Scupper Biscuit" since she's all fat and calories like comfort food. My Revo is "Karma" (long story behind that). Nothing amazing has come to mind for the X-13 or Coosa yet. My buddy Alex calls his Tarpon 120 "Molly" because, "It sounds like a girl you would love, but she's a pain in the ass".

I never named a kayak until I got my Revo a few weeks ago.  Currently have some Vinyl Lettering on the counter to put her name on:

Obligatory: Charlene

I have not named my yak yet.  Not sure if I will.

I named my dust collector from the wood shop Monica.

Only guns I've named were my M96 Swedish Mauser (Miss Kaysa) and my CCW pistol (Sig - it's a Sig Sauer).

One of your classic yellow T-15's should be 'Ole Yeller'

But, Old Yeller got "the hydrophoby" (may not be good for a boat) and we all know what happened next.  :'(  :'(

Those are all awesome names.

My grandkids call me Hoppa so when I got my Tandem Island I Christened it The Island Hoppa. Gotta get it labeled on the hull, amas and sail. Where's the best place to have that done around PDX?

My wife dubbed my Outback  "Cornelia" because it is cornflower blue. Hey, I'm having success. Never mess with superstition, Cornelia it will be!

My wife named my first two kayaks and I felt like I had to stick with the theme for the last one.
My green one is green bean
orange one is orange Julius
and my yellow revo is yellow banana

I never named any boat I have had - not even the one I built. On occasion I do call one a "piece of sh*t" when it does not do want I want, but other than that no real names :)
Fish tremble when they hear my name :)

Not so much names but rather descriptions I use when refering to my different yaks:

The Pig (F-n-D)
Slayer
Lil' Red
Sinker
Tippy
That one

Spot, it's bad luck to say the word "pig" at sea!
