Lure Hunting
« on: February 09, 2012, 09:24:52 pm »
Havent posted in a while, but have still been out kayaking. A while back i posted a picture of my most successful lure hunt ever. Since then my wife and i hit the lakes the minute there low. some of our 2011 finds. ;D There were a few more not worth posting. A word of caution as this is a VERY addictive hobbie!  you may find yourself leaving work early on a daily basis, to be the first one there. hope the pictures work

Wow - that is really impressive!! How many lakes did you scrounge this stuff out of? You and your wife are definitely helping the environment - and your gear budget!   :D

The first three pictures are each from a different lake. Hyatt,Willow and Emigrant. The last one is Fish lake and all the others are applegate. It is a bad addiction, you walk the rocks see fishing line and Know theres something on the end ;D  i have a small collection of funny fishing rigs. Its crazy what some people fish with, i have everything from spark plugs, 16d nail thru a swivel, lag bolts with line around them and even fishing line tied around a rock ???

I have a friend that does this regularly by snorkel in the rivers locally. At times he becomes my best friend. I just this week scored a 10lb pyramid anchor he found for a very nice price.
I've done it a few times and your right, it is addictive. Unfortunately I spend more time losing tackle than finding it.

I never go out in search of tackle, but I always check lines in trees or on the shore.  One thing i noticed is that the quantity and quality of lures I find is inversely proportional to the amount of fish I  catch that day.
