I have been thinking of these... not sure if I would rather make my own or buy outriggers.. Let me know if you go with these and how they work.

I have a set and they do work pretty well.  It would be pretty easy to build your own though.
A couple of boat bumpers, plastic pipe, and some velcro straps are all you would need.

I think this looks like a great alternative to the Scotty system with its associated cost (I believe $300).  Some Scotty accessories still required but they would be multipurpose and add up to around $70.

Other than the cost,  I REALY like the Stand-N-Fish system.   Just the pontoon system is in the $400 range with the complete system as seen in this video knocking on $650

I like the adjustability option of moving the outriggers from straight out or back or forward on the Scotty.

Although the crab float outriggers look pretty slick. I just wonder if there is any issue with drag because of the flat spot on the back floats?

It is true that boat tail rifle bullets have lower drag than identical flat tail rifle bullets, but for an outrigger I'd speculate the difference would be swamped in the environmental noise.

If you want to learn about outriggers for kayaks and lots of DIY options, check out the AquaHunters forum.  The Hawaiians have a long history and experience with outriggers (ama).  http://forum.aquahunters.com/index.php?action=forum

I have the hobie sidekicks and love them.
