How incredibly flippant.

Quote
Larsen, a Roseburg resident, told The Oregonian/OregonLive by phone Friday that he wasn’t using his cellphone while driving his Bayliner and referred to such allegations as “fake news.” Larsen also said a lawsuit seemed unnecessary because the people in the Weldcraft weren’t hurt badly.

Put that old timer in a home, and now.  He is a danger to everyone around him.

Same here.  Can't believe that ass actually said he couldn't see, and THOUGHT IT WAS A VALID EXCUSE!!!

I've seen a lot of stupidity.  Maybe not a boat like that on the Tualatin but all it takes is an overpowered open boat to ruin a good day on a curve like that.  I was surprised the guy hadn't paddled closer to shore on the inside of the curve.  It was obvious he could hear the boat coming, though not from which direction.

I must confess, i the 2nd video I was really hoping for a "Crikey!".  :-)

Down in the canals of the cali delta there are dummies like this on the daily.  I coulnd't believe the speeds they would be traveling in these tight little waterways (and bass boaters seem to die every year during tourneys running like that).  I would never fish the main places in a toon/kayak down there but I see all kinds out there.

For some reason, I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but I had a very similar incident happen out at B10 in my kayak last year, 2017. It was August and I was bleeding a fish and dealing with some gear when I heard a motor getting closer and closer behind me. By the time I realized the motor was dangerously close, I turned around and a 30ish foot cabin-cruiser (very similar to the one in the Astoria video) shot past me, plowing with the bow way high and the trim all wrong, and missed me by about 5 feet going around 25mph. I had no time to react, except to ride the wake luckily upright. When they went by it was obvious that they had no idea that I existed or what had almost happened.
There is absolutely nothing I think I should have done differently. I had a six foot flag and I was amongst a couple hundred boats trolling or drifting at the same speed.
I am still going to assault this fishery again next year.
Don't know what I am trying to say here but this happened.
