Could you be more vague?

Where are we fishing and what are we targeting?  Rockfish in the ocean?  Lake trout in central Oregon?  Yellow perch in Idaho?  Bucketmouths and spots in Lake Shasta in 2 weeks?

Jigging for what species? My setups are definitely different depending on the target species. For Ocean fish, lingcod, rockfish, all around ocean fishing I really like my Shimano Trevala rod. Presently it's paired up with a Okuma coldwater reel, but I've been eyeing the 13 fishing Concept Z reels as a replacement, high speed and without bearings to go worry about.

Jigging for trout (rainbows, browns) or kokanee I use a lighter weight shimano clarus (I think) spinning rod that has a pretty good action I like.

Bass Jigging is a whole 'nother story... I have too many rods to count.

I haven't done much jigging for Mackinaw, but I'll probably use the trevala setup for that.

I built a custom inshore jigging rod for lingcod.  It was great because it was stiff enough to fight a fish but had enough action for good jigging.  I have heard great things about the trevala.

I like to pair it with a Penn Warfare.  It is a cheaper reel with a 30 inch per rotation retrieve.  I like faster retrieves when i have lots of line out like when ocean fishing or salmon fishing.  I think with the drag set properly a high retrieve reel keeps more fish on the line  by keeping the line tight.

Been curious about jigging/slow-pitch specific rods but currently doing most of my heavy metal salt movements with a spiral-wrapped St.Croix 2C80XHF.  Paired with a Daiwa Lexa 300HSL w/ powerpro depth hunter line.

You can't go wrong with a medium to heavy rod and a reel that holds enough line to reach bottom...

Seriously though, specifics are needed for different "jigging" applications.  I'm not going to use the same jigging rod/reel for targeting walleye in the Columbia as I will for lingcod off the coast as I will for kings in... well, lets not worry about where on that one.  ;)  What species are you looking for?

For my big fish stick I use a meat crane 5ft stiff back ocean rod with 80 lb braid I think.... put a bait in a bottom fishes face he’ll usually bite  >:D I get seasick after a while so I don’t play in the big blue I’m grocery shopping.

However, if I was forced to come up with a sexy setup that would work well enough (notice I say well enough, not perfectly) for all three...

Daiwa Coastal TWS paired with a Saltist Inshore 6'6", medium-heavy power, extra fast action rod.

Also, please, under no circumstances, use 80 lb braid on a kayak.  Sorry Mojo, there just isn't a need for it and I consider it really unsafe.

So what WOULD you recommend for braid for jigging?

Just me, but its pretty hard to see a need for more than 30-40 lb at most.  I only use 20 lb braid and get by as you can horse a pretty good load.    Check the lower end for fraying on lighter lines.  That said, I'm not catching any 40 lb lings in the rocks either.  Lighter line = less weight to get down.

You really need to size your gear to your jig. For 1-3oz jigs, I use either a spinning reel or levelwind with 20 or 30 lb braid with a 7' MH-H rod. I also use a 2'-5' section of fluorocarbon leader. I've used rods and reels from the Walmart and outfits that cost as much as a month's rent, and they all catch the same. Pick some gear you like. More than $60 for a reel gets one that won't bust after a couple fish typically. I like a rod that can move the jig without flexing too much. Go lighter on the jig or heavier on the rod, and you can't feel the lure. Go too heavy on the jig or too light on the rod, and you can't get the right action on the lure.
Relax. You'll live longer.
