Living in the Okanogan has it perks, among them is being in close proximity to numerous world class stillwater trout fisheries. One nearby lake, Buffalo Lake, located on the Colville Reservation near the town of Nespelem, WA is stocked heavily with large triploid Rainbow Trout.

This past spring I got my hands on the new Brad's Kokanee Cut Plugs and these lures have quickly become my go to lure when trolling for these larger trout. I stuff them with Powerbait or just soak the scent pad with garlic or anise oil and that combined with the action of the lure and dodger makes them irresistible to trout.

I took advantage of the superb weather to get out and do some fishing and filming for a new episode of Cascadia Kayak Angler. The fishing was great! I hope you enjoy.

Sometimes I don't see video's, like this time.  Sometimes they show up, but I'm not sure if someone did something or not?  Would love to watch

nicely done, Tyler!
Did you tie your double hooks on the mini-brads?  What size hooks are you using?  And also, what rule of thumb do you use to decide how many beads to use - are you trying to get both hooks beyond the tail of the brads?

Yes I tie two #4 Big River Baits pegged off the back using 5 4 mm beads.

For beads and spacing I am looking to push the eye of the upper hook just beyond the tail of the cutplug.

Nice video Tyler.  Looks like a great fishery and technique!

Awesome video. This is likely a newbie/silly question for those of you from this state, but as a transplant I have to ask this and many similar ones. Can anyone go fish in that lake on the reservation?

Edit: disregard.. watched it again and see the need for tribal license

Have you been using the BRB for kokanee too or just the trout? C

I know the question was not directed to me, but I use BRBs for everything I can get away with. From 10/0+ for halibut to smaller trout rigs, love em!

I prefer Gamakatsu drop shot #2 or # finesse wide gap hooks for Kokanee. They are a fine wire hook that give better penetration and I loss less fish than BRB or Octopus.

Another great Cascadia Kayak Angler production. Appreciate the tips and really dug the intro as you arrived to the launch. Nicely done Tyler.  :)
