Rockfish is closed so I went out to try for those sole I've heard about.  Dropped my crab trap in 75' south of the rock them went out to 100' and started to drift with a 2/O shrimp fly rig and 8oz jighead.
I was getting lots of bites, but couldn't hook anything.  I had the shrimp flies tipped with octopus.  I switched to a Sabiki rig with smaller hooks, then finally hooked up...with 2 Sand Dabs.  They were small and hard to hook.  12 oz would have been better.  I had a couple doubles then decided to call it after I had 8.  Came back in to NOT find my crab trap that I had marked on my GPS.  What a bummer!  That was my only trap and I had 5 pounds of rebar in it to weigh it down.

Fish checker said they were some of the smallest Sand Dabs she had ever seen.  Very had to fillet.  Each one was about 4 french fries worth of meat!

When do crab traps typically go on sale at BiMart?
  I thought I heard November.

Only 1 other yakker out there fishing for salmon.  He said he got 1 Coho.

Millions of large jellyfish out there.

BiMart has been putting the Danielson traps on sale during Thanksgiving Black Friday over the past few years.   Keep an eye out for that.

They are doing a cable lay south of the rock.  Your pot was probably removed.

You know if they have that info clearly posted? If not I would be pissed off and making calls! First to see if they have it then to bitch about my getting no crabs.

Pots were to be moved by Sept 17.  Possible they just moved the pots outside the area.  I would try the dory assoc.  Craig Wenrick is the point man for all that stuff.

Not an issue for me as I didn’t crab or have a pot moved I’m just saying it should be required to be posted on signs going down to the beach.... that’s all.

Nice report!  I can't speak for PC, but generally I find when I move to 100 feet or beyond, it's almost endless sand dabs.  This was true for both NorCal and out of Depoe Bay.  I've had success for sand sole out of Depoe Bay fishing 50-70 feet of water on sand, just beyond the reefs.  Very few sand dabs in this zone.  Try drifting or slow-trolling a whole anchovy just above the bottom with two 3/0 to 5/0 hooks, like you were slow-trolling for salmon.  Sand sole that are big enough will easily swallow that chovy.  Earlier this month I caught a couple sand sole in the 16-17 inch range doing this out of Depoe.

Earlier this month, I had success with petrale sole fishing a bit deeper, 75-85 feet, doing the same thing as I did for sand sole.  These were also in the 15-18 inch range.  Still very few sand dabs at that depth, but like I said, once you start going beyond 100 feet you almost can't keep the dabs off.
