I probably should have looked for ideas before buying anything. But, I thought I look for some feedback, input, etc...

I just ordered a lift so I can store my PA 14 in my garage. The PA just won't fit in there with my car and my motorcycle. I found this lift (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009I8AO6/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on Amazon. Anyone else doing something like this?

I'll be much more likely to try a quick trip to Homer during the winter if I don't have to trudge out to my shed, through the snow, etc....

Nice. I found limited options as I looked at weight capacities. I found them at 100 (like yours) and at 125, but that PA is a beast and weighs a minimum of 150 depending how much gear I leave on it. The 250# capacity is what sold on the one I ordered.

If anyone has mounting tips, that would be great. Since I'll be hanging the boat over the hood of my car, I'm pretty concerned (paranoid is probably a better term) with making sure it stays where I want it.

I bought a rack from
http://www.suspenzkayakstorage.com/
And have been happy with the quality.   I see they also have ceiling units

Height was an issue for me and my wife's kayak hung to low using straps.  Grabbed some free metal bed frames (craigslist) and attached those to the lift pulleys and then set up straps under the trimmed bed rails so I can lift the yak right to the ceiling.  I bolted a 2X6 lengthwise between joists so it had multiple bolt points was stronger and I had flexibility about where to attach the joist. I also have safety straps I hook to the ceiling after the lift is up so I'm not relying on the lift ropes.  Just a thought for guys using sling types.
Looks like you've got a premium lift there.  I got by for under $25 for a lighter rig.

I put the Suspenz Deluxe Rack on  a couple 4x4 posts I mounted to the floor and a roof joist between bays in my garage for the Big Tuna, until I came up with the third kayak and needed a different plan.

Guess I ought to sell the Suspenz wall rack now...  Hmmm...

I have my wife's Tarpon 100 hung from a kayak pulley/strap thing, and it takes a bit of hauling on the rope, so i bought a winch from HFT that i'm gonna strip the cable from and run the rope onto. I imagine you'll want this even more given the PA weight.

Some great stuff here. I've gotten some good ideas.  My lift should be here soon (shipped yesterday). I'll upload photos when get it installed. Probably won't get it done this weekend.  Looks like it should be a beautiful day in Homer tomorrow.

Well, I finally got it done.

Just made a few adjustments. I'll let it hang one more night before I park the car under it. (Yes, I'm a little paranoid.

The only thing I am still comptiplating is putting some PVC pipe under the hull. Seems like that would distribute the weight better. Righ now I just have two inches of foam between the platform and the boat.

This set up will make it much more convenient if I want to go fishing in the middle of the winter. For that matter, it will make it easier if I want to go fishing Saturday.
