Thanks for the info. I almost soiled my new Christmas underwear after reading this. A kayak fish trip in Alaska happens to be #2 on my bucket list. I've been there (hitch-hiking, deck hand black cod fishing, driving up Alcan-sans pavement, vacationing, hiking the Chilkoot Trail, working, blah, blah, blah ....)  quite a few times, but have NOT kayak fished there. Opulence is nice, but minimalism is preferred. We will happen to be up there next September, so thank you for the information. I'm saving this thread!
Homer happens to be on our agenda. 

The last thing on my bucket list is 'Get a new bucket.'
