Howdy!  I fished a bit as a kid but didn't pick it up again until about three years ago.  I went steelhead fishing with some friends and instead caught some tiny trout.  It was fun though.  I then looked into fly fishing and started fly fishing almost exclusively.  I picked up a cheap float tube to get off the bank, then started looking at kayaks to get around faster.  I picked up a kayak about a year ago.  My kayak is a FeelFree Lure 10.  It is super stable, but words to describe its rate of travel are not synonymous with speed unless floating downstream which it does well.  Since then I've discovered this site and the AOTY.  I signed up for this year to motivate myself to get out and fish from the kayak more.    I'm looking forward to meeting people at fishing events this year and figuring out how to coordinate paddle, rod, and kayak at the same time. :)
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Welcome aboard! Nice intro! AOTY is a great motivator both to get out, and to target new species. Look forward to hearing more from you and will hopefully see you at one of our tourneys.

Welcome and good job jumping right in by joining AOTY.  I wanted to make sure you saw there is a fly fishing side challenge in AOTY. When you take a photo of the fish on the measuring board just make sure you have your fly pole or line in the photo and mark it as caught on the fly when submitting it.  Also, you can actually have two of the same species listed.  One on the fly and one conventional gear.

AOTY is a fun way to get out on the water more.  Hope to see you out there soon.
Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.
