Wow...the last time I fished was Thanksgiving Day.  A lot of factors have conspired against me lately so I decided that I better at least slap together a video of our 2016 season.  I've been sitting on it for a while hoping to improve upon it but its not going to happen with the current time situation.  I need to take a class or make friends with a few audio and video engineers.  But for two amateurs just having fun, this video will have to do.

We spent more time staring at big breaking surf this year than probably the past 5 years combined.  But we did manage to catch some fish.  I am happy to see that my now 12 year old son Ryu seems to be the star of the video so the torch is getting passed on perhaps sooner than I would like.

If 2017 is anywhere as productive as 2016, its going to be another great year!!!!!!!  Let's FISH!!!

Rudy, thanks so much for sharing your (and Ryu's) Alaska kayak catching adventures. Really great video - inspiring!  Still love the excitement and joy Ryu has for the sport - you've done well sharing teaching and encouraging him, he's fortunate to have such a mentor and father.

Rudy, kardinal_84, is the reason I ever thought I could get my big ass on a little plastic boat, catch fish...and not die!  Thanks for the e_mentoring and in-person over the past few years.

I spent quite a bit of time on lakes this past summer so hopefully I'll be better off in the salt this season versus jumping right in for the first time in my yak and attempting the Homer King tourney last year.

Thats such a fun an inspiring video on so many levels. Dad of the year award, you must be so proud of Ryu he looks like such s great kid! Thank you, I really enjoy learning about the weather up there & its effect on the fish migration & bite. Looking forward to your 2017 family video!

Nice Job~!

The pinnacle of the season though had to be Ryu's Barbie rod catch and his single handed harpooning without breaking the rod.

 Another great video/recap Rudi-san.
+10 about aspects other have mentioned.
I think my favorite part of this review is the raw , joyful release of emotion when Ryu started to weep. That pure act is one of the most precious things I've seen in a while . Even better than puppies and babies.
And who can hate babies and puppies.

Get over your cold or flu and get out there with your son. at least until he can drive. Then you'll never see him or be able to keep up with him anyway. Then pass that torch. You earned it.
Hope you have a great 2017. Just gotta' make it happen

She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent
