The ramp end looks good but I'd never make it out the harbor at the exit end. Would take a decent boat to get through that jam.

1:42PM today.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Never mind whether power boats can make it out of the harbor; how was the fishing? I won't make it down their this weekend after all but have coordinated to pre-fish next Friday.  Forecast does look better for next weekend right now anyway....

Fished 3 hours today and actually got a few marks on the fish finder. Had a few hits as well. But still no fish. We will be out there in the morning.

Driving down now.  Probably too late for a Saturday evening session.  Trying to keep things low stress with the entire family being sick.  Staying in Homer tonight though.

Good luck. Hope you guys find some fish. I'm heading down Monday to see if the warming temps bring some fish in closer.

I once asked the bartender how many dollars were hanging in the Salty Dog---" a little over $30,000". Kinda mind blowing.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Kind of makes you think, "why didn't I marry a stripper. " Did I say that... I'm in trouble now.

Lol.  No love today. We froze early..literally.  then it got ultra nice after 1pm.  Marked som very king like marks about half way to the green can in 60ft of water about half way down.

The whales were putting on a show. Sea lions were a tad scary. They are HUGE up close.

Thanks for the fresh views of the harbor Rudy. The Homer webcams are kaput today with no imagery.  Looks a bit congested at the outlet still.  But forecast last night said mid 30's or higher by Saturday. At least the air temperature will be more cooperative if that prediction holds true.

I do worry about the sea lions though. Never a good sign when seals or sea lions are hanging around a salmon fishery whether in the rivers or the ocean. They do tend to stampede the fish and turn them off the bite. The long period of time they have been hanging out off the Spit does indicate something is going on beneath the surface to get their attention.  I wonder what is keeping those critters in the area. Perhaps hooligan staging but if there were any concentrations they should show on the FF.  Too bad everyone except Matt has struck out leaving the fleet blank on stomach contents. Maybe the pinnipeds are also feeding on the crustaceans. ?? Or perhaps pollock/cod that are eating the shrimp.

I was hoping to get the downrigger cam out on the water before the tournament and see if the video would provide any insider clues.  But the harbor is still a mess. I kept the boat dug out and ready at a moment's notice...just not the winter for that.  I found out Big Lake has 36 inches of ice on it right now. Looks like open water kayak fishing is going to be very late this spring!
