I'm headed up to Portland the week of 6/19. Really would like to rent a cabin or small house an hour or less from NE. Would love to be on or walking distance to some type of water. Any suggestions?

Airbnb... Its the only way I travel now. I have a rental home listed in Forks WA, and we are always booked full. Its an amazing service, and a great way to travel. Beats staying in a hotel any day!

Can't help you with a particular rental really, but I would second the AirBnB thing.

Was hoping for a resort with cabins by the river or lake

When you say NE, do you you mean NE Portland?

If you mean NE Portland,  there should be rentals up around Sandy and Zig Zag along the Sandy River.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."
--Edward Abbey--
