Has anyone been up to Baker Lake salmon fishing yet? I went on 7-16 and didn't catch anything. Most of the boats on the lake got skunked.

I did have a couple of hits and one follow (from my underwater camera)

If you went to Baker Lake, let me know if you had any luck.

Heading up next weekend for the first time. Not sure where to start but it sounds like Shannon Creek area is the most reliable. I'll report back on my success (or lack of).

That's where I was and there were some caught by other boats.

I'll be heading back to Baker Lake August 5-12 and camping at Shannon Creek.

Nice. We are hoping to score a campsite there.

Did you try just a bare hook, red or black trolled REAL slowly behind a dodger?
Orange Flat Fish, or....don't want to pry, but... (sure I do:-)

What's the wind up there like generally? I haven't pickup up a sail kit yet for my Hobie and I can only get wind forecasts 4 days out on NOAA. I'm looking for a place to head out and fish a few days starting this coming Tuesday 7/25 and I've wanted to try out this fishery the last few years. I've only recently acquired a setup worth taking the drive up there for though.
They might sound ill advised, but when I tell folks of my exploits, it's rare I don't find them smiling

Paddle Ninja - The wind was really light, but I like the idea of sailing a bit if the chance arises.

Trident 13 - Yes I tried bare hooks and a few other set ups. Only 2 boats I talked to caught fish on Sunday and yes, I could have talked to the wrong boats  ::)
