Wanted to let everyone know that the Shasta Bass Kayak Classic which started as a two-day bass tournament on Lake Shasta in support of Heroes On The Water was picked up by Hobie Fishing for a 2017 Worlds Qualifier March 25-26.

First prize will be an invite to the Worlds plus a certain amount of payout for travel/expenses.

Second prize will be a 2017 Hobie Outback

There will be a payout also, the more participants the more people will walk away with at least their entry fee back.

At minimum $30 from each registration will go to Heroes On The Water, (Shasta CA Chapter is hosting) this again depends on participants.

Entry fee must be paid in full by March 1 to be guaranteed a tournament t-shirt and Captains Bag

Entry fee - $100, (on site day of Captains Meeting - $125 until 6:00 pm March 24 when registration will close)

Any launch fees are responsibility of participant.

Three places to visit for more info.

http://ianglertournament.com/shasta-bass-kayak-classic (we will be doing real time scoring, three longest fish each day) scroll down click on Rules and Regualtions. Register at iAngler and join the demo tourney, you don't have to pay anything, practice taking pictures on Hawg Trough and uploading.

http://www.shastabasskayakclassic.com/ is our official web site, with links, directions, where to stay

FB page - https://www.facebook.com/shastabasskayakclassic/

To answer two most asked questions:

1. Can we use any other kayak besides Hobie - YES - kayaks, SUP's and canoes are welcome, however if you bring something that looks unseaworthy we will have to talk about it. No motors, human powered only, no trolling, one person per watercraft, can't share.

2. Will there be multiple launch sites - most likely, depends on numbers, at this point we are thinking 3 or 4. Bridge Bay Resort is where Check-in and awards ceremony will be help. Captains Meeting at Headwaters Adventure in Redding on Friday the 24th. Only 40 rooms at the resort, they are filling quick, they have houseboats also. Ask for tournament rates.

Any questions post here, on FB or email tournament@headwatersadventure.com

All rules and payout are subject to change although at this late date only likely change will have to do with the payout. We are capping at 150 registrations.

We have more sponsors coming on, be announcements soon, there will be raffle but you don't have to buy tickets, each particpant will receive a yet to be determined number of tickets.

One last comment, for this tournament all help will be volunteer, we will cover expenses, do a payout and raise as much as we can for HOW!

We are adding sponsors and working on details. Will make announcements in the next few days. Will be some nice raffle prizes.

FYI, we won't be selling raffle tickets, but all participants will receive a yet to be determined amount, depends on number of people  and how many sponsor donations.

We are looking like at minimum $30 from each registration will go to Heroes On The Water, we are also planning a payout, again depends on numbers, we would like to get down to 10 or 15 places and at least have several people win their entry fee back with people placing higher winning some bigger prizes.

Heard from Bridge Bay Resort today kayaks will be launching on the North Ramp. Will try to get up there in next week or two and post some pictures.

Also if you follow the Western Bass Series you might look up their event this past weekend at Bridge Bay on Lake Shasta, a lot of fish caught, some big ones right out in the main channel.

Bridge Bay does boxed lunches, I believe it is $12, if enough people are interested in that we may do a sign-up sheet or something, although you would probably pay the resort direct.

Have been really thinking about this the last couple of days. Unfortunately there's a Oregon kayak bass fishing event that weekend as well which I would also like to attend. Still pondering which one to fish. Shasta holds a really special place in my heart as I used to fish there often with my dad growing up.

Stohlquist has signed on as a sponsor! Additional prize for the raffle.

http://www.stohlquist.com/about-us.html

Remember as part of the entry fee all participants will receive raffle tickets, we won't be selling any additional. Would liek to see everyone walk away with a stuffed Captains Bag, have a good shot at a nice prize and payout as many places as we can.

Hey Everyone - check out current sponsors on first post.

Some questions on places to stay.

Bridge Bay Resort has lodge (10% off) and houseboat rentals (at least 15% off, maybe more, call and confirm) http://www.bridgebayhouseboats.com/

Check for motels in Redding area, campgrounds on USFS web site

Pretty sure I'm going to make the drive down.

Wanted to let everyone know, that plenty of spots in tournament but if you want to stay overnight at the Bridge Bay Resort Lodge where launch and check in are make your reservation soon, only 40 rooms total, of course there are plenty of places to stay in Redding plus campgrounds, RV Parks etc. Some people are looking into sharing houseboats also. Make sure when you call Bridge Bay you tell them you are attending tournament for best pricing. You also get 25% off in restaurant and free kayak launch if you stay there.

Several people have mentioned arriving Thursday to pre-fish.

Any questions at all email me at tournament@headwatersadventure.com

Update on Tournament

We have 26 registered, 17 paid in full, if you want to see who is fishing look here at the Leaderboard page;

http://ianglertournament.com/tournament/leaderboard/1473?day=03%2F25%2F2017&dayEnd=03%2F26%2F2017

If you want to be assured of premium Captains Bag and tournament t-shirt, please register and pay in full by March 1.

We will likely allow a shotgun start, if you are going to be on the water before first light you must have a light on your kayak otherwise you will have to wait until official starting time to launch. If you launch early you must stay in the designated boundaries we determine until fishing is allowed. Bridge Bay Resort has a paved launch ramp and long floating dock. We will request that you stay with in that general area until fishing begins.

Remember to check rules page on iAngler for latest "official" updates" http://ianglertournament.com/shasta-bass-kayak-classic
