early start to my fall salmon fun, I took the i11s down the river from Florence to the bar on Friday.

First time I have tried slow trolling at the river mouth at low slack, I was getting held at the CG tower (under 16' held there) but just before low, they moved the hold to jetty tips, so I was heading out along the S. Jetty to join about 15 PB working that area, including some of my STEP friends.  I trolled maybe 40 yards along the jetty and 'fish on'.

well it worked out great when this 29" clipped coho stuck with me through 3 terrible netting attempts (net leash jammed), I ended up holding her off the edge of the boat while disconnecting the net leash with my other hand, and then finally doing it right.

I can't be sure if this is one from our tiny STEP hatchery that I volunteer at, or perhaps just one that wandered in following bait fish, we are a bit south for it to be a C. river coho, but wow, this is sushi grade coho, I sure hope this is evidence that of our ocean conditions have improved...cheers, roger

Sushi-grade indeed, Roger!  Nicely done.  Good-looking silver and even better-looking filets!
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...

I have never caught a fin clipped coho on the Siuslaw, only on the Umpqua. It's nice to know that there are some in the river! Congrats Roger on a beautiful fish!
