I haven't fished the Calcutta before and have a question about the WG beach. How "popular" is the camping area for this weekend? I want to take my trailer down, and am worried that it might be hard to find a camping spot. The area fills up fast for Memorial weekend. I guess I could go down Thursday and leave the trailer. I don't really like that idea either. Unless I know some people camping down there I'd be nervous about leaving the trailer unattended overnight.

Any advice from experienced Calcutta Whiskey Gulch campers?

Thanks.

I think its early enough in the year that if you showed up friday, you'd be ok. Most participants are local powerboaters.

Good to know. That's what I was hoping to hear.

See you down there.

The Stariski state campground is right at the top of the hill. It costs a few bucks and it's not waterfront property, but that's become my preferred place to camp at WG. The free beach camping always fills up first, and on the busier weekends it can feel a little more Mad Max down there than I like.
