http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/environment/oops-after-accidental-release-of-atlantic-salmon-fisherman-being-told-catch-as-many-as-you-want/

These fish escaped the South end of Cypress Island and are being picked up in commercial fisheries in Bellingham and Sammish Bays. There is no limit on them. It could be a great opportunity if you can find them.

Fish hard.

Caught one many years ago using standard coho gear.  Iremember it being pretty funny as me and a friend stared at the spotted fish in the net wondering if it was a weird steel head, large cut throat or what.

Talked with someone at Larrabee Park and there is a launch @

245 Chuckanut Dr, Bellingham, WA 98229

It's good at high tide but even at low you should be able to walk a yak around the edges.  He reported some folks are all ready fishing for them.  They might be hungry by the weekend:-)
It seems like it might be crowded, a high tide in mid-morning.

If these are farmed salmon, what would they have been eating their entire lives? Might make for unique bait choices to maximize catch rates... :)

Are these the same farm raised salmon you get from costco, etc. where the label says "color added" ? If so sounds like just bigger pellet heads. Pass.
Let's eat, Grandma !

Punctuation. It saves lives.

I understand the color added and pellet head issues.

That aside, fly fishing close to shore tossing large black ant type flies to a school of aggressive hungry 10-lbers would certainly be entertaining even on a C&R basis.
I wonder if you're even suppose to/allowed to C&R?  The article said they don't count toward the a daily limit or need to be recorded on a card... they want them removed from the Sound, might be a C&B(ury)?

If you guys are going to fish for these fish - please do not release them.  The last thing we need is this disease ridden filth to mix with wild populations

How do you get purina salmon chow to stay on the hook, magic string?

Hook it through the bark? Badda Boom

There is a request to remove them from the water.  That said, when was last time you had limit license to sink your yak with salmon?

Do it like you would egg clusters with mesh?

And, didn't Power Bait come out with a simile to hatchery feed for stocker rainbows a few years ago?

Apparently they're being caught with shiny lures on the south end of cypress Island in very shallow water.

Fish hard.

Saw an article where the Lummi tribe was saying they aren't safe for us to catch, but they are netting the he'll out of them and selling them.

Not safe as in "getting bit by them", or not safe as in "eating them"?

Either way, sounds like the typical verbiage from someone that doesn't want to share the free bounty with anyone, AND make a bit of money doing so.
