I'm game to help out.
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

We have one participant signed up so far, so this event is going to happen no matter what.  If one is all we get you all can still show up to do some fishing with us.  We'll make it a HOW event/NWKA meet up.  The more the merrier!  This could be a good chance to get some AOTY points if you're missing some freshwater species (like me).

Post up if you plan on joining us for this last HOW-NOC event of the year and we'll see you on the water.

Ok guys we’re looking at a good day without the typical PNW  “stuff” falling from the sky! DON’T you dare say it!!!!!! We still have 7 seats for veterans, active military and first responders so if you got a buddy in the industry or know someone that might be interested send them our way. (Police, Paramedics, firefighters even if there only volunteers)

I was told by the ODFW biologist that the bass population is strong and average 5lbs from there recent survey and there shoul still be plenty of stocked trout.

We only had the one participant but that doesn't mean it wasn't eventful.  It was a beautiful day on the coast and we had the whole lake to ourselves for most of the morning.  Fish were rolling all around us all morning but we couldn't get them to bite what we were offering.  We spent the whole morning just chasing them all over the lake and socializing.  After we had lunch and our participant left Shannon and I decided we were going to give it another try.  We could see the Steelhead all laying in the inlet to the lake and tossed spinners to them but they wouldn't move.  We moved out into the lake and I put a slip sinker rig and worm on and figured I'd just plunk on the bottom and take a nap.  There was no wind and the kayak was sitting still so I cast it out and took up the slack and propped up my feet and propped my reel up on my leg and leaned back and relaxed.  A split second later something hit my rod so hard I thought my pole was going overboard.  I jumped so high I about followed it.  I set the hook and the line caught on one of my pedals and the reel handle at the same time so setting the hook just made the rod end bend down and didn't really set anything.  The whole time I can hear Shannon behind be laughing asking me if I fell asleep and had a bad dream...

I re-baited my hook and tried again but couldnt get another strike.  I decided to switch over to PowerBait and that seemed to wake up the fish.  I missed a couple before finally landing a respectable 13in Bow.

We were talking about packing it in and Shannon decided to make one last lap around pulling a spinner and about half way around I hear him yell "Fish On and its a big one!"  As you can see from the pictures above, he wasn't kidding.

Unfortunately we werent able to get our participant any fish but we still all had a great time.  What a way to end the season for HOW-NOC!

Now to get to work on our trailer!!!

One participant or 20 it does not matter, because you made a difference to them. Good work gang!

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!”

The old man looked at the girl inquisitively and thought about what she had done and said. Inspired, he joined the little girl in throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon others joined, and all the starfish were saved.
