Beginning a process of turning my 97 Chevy Suburban into somewhat of an Overland adventure vehicle.  I began with the roof rack because I was needing to upgrade to haul 2 Wavewalks.  In doing so my plan was to take a craigslist wood rack and attach it to my Suburban.

Of course doing that made me google roof racks for Suburbans which got me down the path of Overlanding......roof top tents and all the rest.

So my rack will have more requirements than just being bigger, it will also have a floor, and have a number of other fun features going forward.  But I post this up here because I know that one of the challenges of kayak fishing is getting these things on the roof.  I wanted a rack that would be far enough back that I didn't have to use a towel etc. on the window.  I also stand on the bumper to tie things down and getting up there in slippery conditions was a challenge as well.

So with new requirements in place, I found a roof rack on craigs list.  Just so happened it was from someone on this board. (sorry I don't remember your handle).  In any event I had an appointment with the fab shop on Wednesday.  While I was waiting to talk with the welder noticed that they had a better rack growing weeds.  So I haggled a steal of a price and they mounted it up on the Suburban.  Zombie apocalypse vehicle transformation begins.  This is just phase 1 of many more to come.  (floor, ladders on each side of the Sub, primer then bedlinner) LED lights etc.

(by the way if anyone wants a K&M Roof frack it is going on Craigslist next week)

Got the antlers on and did a road test.  Two boats no problem!

Next comes the floor (perforated steel) and ladders.  But first a church campout starting tomorrow at Alta Lake!

Got the floor and the Raptor liner done.  I called it Rhino liner by mistake on the video.
