I know this has been discussed in the past, but was wondering if anyone has seen something like a ATV winch used to pull pots. I bout died pulling my shrimp pot off Alki. That sucker got heavy at 275 feet. Seemed to me with some quick welding and a decent electric winch I could prob fashion something up by taking the motor and rigging a windless. Any thoughts beside gut it out. I am too damn old to pull pots all day and dont have the muscle mass to do it anymore.... So as they say brains over brawn sometimes is the better option... And no I am short on brains most likely also.

Anything powerful enough to zip them up to the surface will do a fine job of zipping you down to the bottom.

I pull my shrimp from the seafood case at Fred Mayer , little to no muscle effort. Bad idea winching anything from a kayak except a downrigger ball and those are manual. Try to think sail boat rigging hand cranks (unsure what there called) I don't sail.

Yarr, matey, that be a windlass!

Has anyone ever heard of pulling shrimp pots using the anchor ring/buoy method used on anchors?   I don't shrimp, so I have no idea if that would be at all practical, but that's how I pull my anchor from the Revo.

I was thinking the same because I got some injury myself and I am worried about the long term affects.  But looks like our options are limited.
