A few of us are heading to Hobuck beach in Makkah bay on Sunday for the Halibut season extension. Never fished the area, but we're gonna give it a shot if the conditions are good. I haven't seen any reports this year, has anyone fished it? If you know the area, and want to meet up, send me a pm.

Boy, you're putting stress on the family ties.  Have a great time.  Keep notes, maybe worth another run later in the summer.

Best of luck to you! I can't wait to hear how it goes! Watching those YouTube videos can be very inspiring. I hoped to make it up to explore and learn the area this year, but it didn't fit into my schedule or budget. I'll have to make it happen in Oregon this year. It's probably more of a paddle, but definitely less of a drive from where I'm at.

Good luck! If you happen to come across a halibut rod and a pair of sunglasses bobbing around in the surf.......oh, never mind.

A friend and I went to Hobuck Sunday morning, but conditions were not great, so we headed out of Neah Bay instead. First time to Neah bay for both of us. The fog was too thick to try for halibut. We stuck to the rocks and kelp outside the bay. Fishing was fairly slow for Lings, but I managed one 23 inch keeper, and he caught a black rockfish and a nice 25 inch Cabezon! Caught a bunch of undersized lings, Cabezon, and copper rockfish. Weather and currents became an issue once the fog burned off at 3pm, and we called it a day. Good experience overall even if we didn't get the opportunity we were hoping for.

Was about to hit you up for a report.  Glad it was fun, good that you decided to use some caution.  Fog makes a kayak pretty invisible even if you know where you are.
Check "Good ole Edmonds" thread and see what you think about Saturday.
