Poll

TBKD4 shirts

I would pay $40 if I get the shirt
I wouldn't attend at that price even with a shirt
Doesn't matter either way
I don't want a tournament shirt

Would you mind a $10 increase in the registration if a standard cotton tournament shirt is included with the option to upgrade at your cost?

I'd pay the extra clams for a t-shirt.  Of course, I'm used to shelling out a few more bucks for my "jumbo petit" size anyway!

I think the fact that TBKD3 had such dismal sales of shirts//hats means that most people do not want to pay for what is offered. Increasing the entry fee to have an unwanted shirt is going the wrong direction.

If the point is to raise more money for HOW and you're getting $ from NWKA members, perhaps you could take the lead on printing gear for NWKA that is agnostic to the TBKD tournament but has some attractive garments of quality (non cotton) materials.  I would pay $ for a nice long sleeve dry fit shirt if I could get a women's size that was a plain style with just the fish NWKA logo. Or a 1/4zip fleece shirt. Or even a hoodie type sweater (pullover or zip) as long as it's not cotton.

I don't fish the tournaments to get a shirt. I go for the camaraderie, the friendly spirit of competition and I'm glad my small fee goes to HOW. Don't increase the fee. Just my opinion.

I am definitely interested in general NWKA gear and would be happy that purchases supported HOW. Who owns the rights to nwka logos for prints?

Without side tracking the poll Dino up in Seattle handles the basic NWKA logo gear. This is tournament specific shirts.

On the one hand, I agree with Barb that cotton is not what I want when thinking about kayak bling garments. Totes.

On the other hand, I think a bigger driver behind the dismal sales was convenience. Or the lack of it. Go with a supplier that has an online store, linked to the event, and puts whatever combination of NWKA, HOW, and TBKD on the product and you'll see plenty of drunk-prime style orders rolling in. I've seen me do it.

I'm also holding  hands with Barb about what I look for in the tournament: make connections, get on the water with folks, and support the cause. And yeah, I come pretty much looking for an excuse to drop some dough on the chapter. Give me an excuse. But that's a time-and-place thing and won't apply equally to everyone all the time.

So, don't lock people up, but make it easy to separate them from their dough, I says. The more options, the better, especially since you have to move away from sponsor graft due to the tax situations.
