I got 5 blacks and one large cabby. As I get more familiar with  bottom fishing and I'm running out of friends to give fish too, I've been fishing more with my light gear vs my short salmon pole. It's been fun, caught the cabby on my light gear, even the blacks can be fun to catch.

Lancer had given me a jig with tougher tail material to try out so it was the first out. Unfortunately, i got it hung on the rocks without bringing a fish in. The material is tougher but it also has less action. I think that matters.

I've been using the same 6' Ugly Stick for salt water and fresh water bass fishing. So far I haven't hooked anything so big it's been a problem and it's plenty fun.

I was on the sand about 0640 and there was an impressive number of kayaks getting rigged or on the water. There was a little SE wind in the morning and that menacing fog break threatening our sunny day.

Launch was mellow, and I suppose the two crabs I lifted out of the water with my paddle from shore was a sign of what was to come for those crabbing.

I fished various reefs and up tight to the rock with swimbaits looking for lings. Ling bite was tough for me, only landed one short and one 26". Had a steady pick of decent blacks all day, lots of aggressive suspended fish. Another day without a cabazon, oh well! All fish released to be someone else's catch.

Ran into a few familiar faces on the water and listened to probably 4 offers of crab limits on the radio, pretty cool of everyone sharing the wealth. I had to pass because I didn't have a crab licence, but now I have that and 7 crab pots... So here's hoping I'm not too late!

Had a great day and got home in time to do yard work. I'll get a video up tomorrow, I have to brew a New England session IPA today.

As promised, here are a few screenshots from the video footage I captured.  The video is still in the works.

So cool to see Peter on the salt finally.  Looks like he's have a blast yanking in the fish.
Looking forward to hearing of his experience as a salty kayak fisherman tonight at work.  :coffee2:
