I put this video together in answer to a question on the iFISH forum and I thought it might be useful to the, as-yet, uninitiated folks here.

This meant to address the question; "What do I do when I get a Hot fish up to the kayak?".  Hope you find it useful.

Thanks, Mark.  I'd never have thought about showing a fish the net on purpose.  Good tip.

" desensitize the salmon to the net"

  C'mon man.....

Scaring a fish by stabbing a shiny cavey looking thing at it a few times will certainly help keep pressure on the hook and make the fish expend a lot of energy as you work to capture your prey. Both good points covered in Marks' video. And I enjoyed the video
But sorry boss----- not buying the "desinitize".

Juke 'em with the net & make 'em run! This method works so well in those situations where all they want to do is swim at you & shake their heads. Spring Salmon are especially talented at slowly swimming right up to you before exploding right next to the boat & exploiting any slack in the line. Great explanation Mark.

ROFL.  I noticed Spot didn't whack the salmon, assumed he released it, and thought, "Perhaps the next time someone catches that fish the net won't frighten it..."  But it's a tough audience today, Spot.    ;D

We all play fish psychologist while fishing.  I choose to believe that they eventually come to see the net as their savior from the fight and convince themselves that it'll take them to a better place.  Lol!

Tough crowd here.  Tough crowd.
