I fished PC last Friday one last time before rockfish closed for the year.  I have been trying to learn to catch rockfish on the fly.  The conditions were near perfect.  The surf launch and landing were like being at the lake.  There was almost no wind and the swells were small.  To top it off I found the rockfish feeding near the surface and were willing biters.

The rockfish I was catching near the kelp beds were smaller, with the largest ones being 15-17 inches, but most were smaller.  I caught the first 30 in a little over an hour.  I took a break to give my arm a rest and switched to lures.  I caught a keeper ling and cabezon before returning to the kelp bed. I caught another 10 rockfish on the fly before heading back in.  This was my best day fly fishing for rockfish so far and was a great day on the water at PC.  Can't wait to do it again next year

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

My first attempt at posting video. It shows up on mine, so I don't know what to do.

Video shows up fine for me - tried a few different ways and it worked each way. I didn't try tapatalk, though. Now I gotta watch it!

Well that looks like a good time! That was some non-stop action - way to find them. I'm really bummed I never took my fly rod out this year. I had some shots at awesome top water bites and it was fun on the spinning gear but I couldn't help wishing I had my fly rod.

Thanks for putting that together and sharing it. Videos and reports were the first reason I started browsing these forums.

No video, no fish.  I'm not ready to say that others who claim they can see it are not reliable witnesses, but I want to see it with my own eyes!  Where's the video?
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...

For the other troglodytes like me who still use real computers instead of semi-clever phones, the video is at youtube.com/watch?v=oWPTyfkyTjE

You had a fine day out there.  Good one!   8)
