I've been asked to give a talk at the Next Adventure Paddle Sports Center.   Unlike previous talks I've given there, this time they want to hear about my day job as an marine ecologist specializing in invasive species.   This is part of Next Adventure's "Thirsty Thursday" talks co-sponsored by Hopworks Urban Brewery.

https://nextadventure.net/events-classes/detail/view/id/6995/

I'll cover general information about aquatic invasive species (AIS) in Oregon, AIS citizen science opportunities for paddlers, and Japanese tsunami marine debris.

When: November 9th 7:00 pm
Where: Next Adventure Paddle Sports Center
Cost:   FREE

I'll volunteer to be your assistant if I can wear a lab coat. :-p
Sounds like an interesting evening.

Sounds very interesting.  Will have to see if I can get away from work in time.  It's the opposite direction from home for me :-(.

Did I mention that this series of talks is called “Thirsty Thursdays” and that it is sponsored by Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB)?  Next Adventure doesn’t advertise how HUB is actually sponsoring this, but I don’t think they donated the PowerPoint projector.

Do they offer Kool Aide?

The kind that comes in a can and smells of hops :-)

Enjoyed the talk tonight Brian, it was pretty informative.

Would have been cooler to blow up dock #1 though :-p

Thanks BSteves for opening our eyes to this stuff. Sounds like we would all be better off if we had a bigger army of citizen science scouts looking out for plants and animals that don't belong.

+1

And the Grapefruit HUB Kool Aide.  I need to source this liquid goodness locally.
