For our second outing we will be hitting Lost Lake (clatsop county) and will be joined by Wilderness Warriors. They take veterans on hiking, camping, and fishing trips. There doing a day bank fishing trip.
I’m hoping we can get some extra kayaks brought up by our volunteers for this one.

More details to come.

There will be a tow behind BBQ for lunch.

We have 8 seats available and one is already taken so 7 left. We could use volunteers and if possible maybe a few extra kayaks (we will know for sure as we get closer)

Volunteers arrive at 0800 veterans arrive at 0900 wrapping up at 1500.
This is a small lake and very paddle friendly, my boys and I spent many summer days float tubing this lake.

Trout is the target but they do put some left over Steelhead in there too so I'd bring a couple of bigger spoons or spinners also.
Looks like the lake is scheduled to get 3750 fish this week too.  Talk about good planning.  ;)

Cool, thanks Ray! Sounds like fun, I've never fished this lake before.

I can help as well.

By chance I was already planning on going to Lost Lake (with the Willamette being all muddy). I will probably be there at first light to get some fishing done prior to the arrival of others and helping out.

Tip:
Last year early in the season (when trout are still swimming near the surface) trolling olive colored damsel flies behind the kayak was the ticket to success and CONSTANT action (>20 fish/hour). Lots of fun on a 4 or 5 weight fly rod. From what i read stocking is done by a different party this year and fish are a little bigger than in previous years.

See you Saturday

Yes, some lakes are being stocked by the Army Corp of Engineers (who get their stock from Desert Springs I believe) unfortunately this lake isn't one of them.  Hagg Lake is on their list and the trout I've caught from there this season do seem a little larger and a lot more spunky.  You can read more about it here.

Oh, and thank you for the offer to help out.  ;D

I wish I could go.  We've got lacrosse games that morning or I'd be there.
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Had a great time with 5 participants 1 no show and one very late show, 6 volunteers came out to help and I want to say thank you all for helping. Stingerhook took some on the water shots, hopefully he can post up some for us.

How was the fishing? I went to garibaldi yesterday with my uncle.  Fishing was ok until wind picked up. Crabbing sucked.

The pellet heads were biting for sure!! I think everyone caught at least 4 or 5 fish?

At one point I was getting a little tired of plucking little 9" fish off the needlefish so I didn't even  throw it out. I would imagine it was probably 30-40 fish caught over the 5 hours or so on the water for me. They were hitting just about anything but they seemed to really like flys trolled behind the kayak and I did really well with a little needlefish trolled about 30ft back. Couldn't get any of the surplus steelhead to bite, but saw plenty of them swimming around.

Attached some pics of the event.

Like stated by Mojo and Matt: the fishing was good and everyone had a good time. The nice weather helped out as well!

For those interested in fishing this lake:
- Crowds typically get less after noon.
- During the HOW event the bite was clearly better after lunch.
So two good reasons to sleep in first and then go fishing:-)
