For all of you HF trailer owners out there, suggest checking this recall to see if your tires are in the recall.

NHTSA Recall ID Number : 17T017  https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=17T017

Synopsis : Harbor Freight Tools (Harbor Freight) is recalling certain Innova Ultra Runner utility trailer tires, sizes 5.3x12 and 4.80/4.00x12, and Far East utility trailer tires, size 4.80/4.00x8, purchased mounted on replacement trailer rims. These tires may not be strong enough to support the expected loads. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires-Other than Passenger Cars." If the tires cannot meet the strength requirements, the tires may fail, increasing the risk of a crash. Harbor Freight will notify owners, and stores will provide replacement tires mounted on rims, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 6, 2017. Owners may contact Harbor Freight customer service at 1-800-444-3353.

Thanks Doc for this post. Turns out my bro in Mojave Desert has a Harbor Freight trailer with the tires that are in this recall. He was not aware of it.

Yes, great post. Not great news for many, but good to know. Has anyone tried to buy a "new" Harbor Freight trailer lately? I noticed in the Vancouver (WA) store, the trailer display is rather sparse and the hang tags are marked as clearance  ??? Went to the Web-site and entered "trailers" in the search to receive a "No Results Found" message (Accept for accessories like lights and wiring harnesses, etc). Back to scouring the classifieds on Craigslist.  ;D

I'll have to check my tires to see if they're included. Thanks for the heads up!

My trailer was included in the tire recall and I'm the origninal owner of the two year old.  I received a letter in the mail.  The letter says to "Bring only the tires to an HFT store..." I checked with them yesterday and that doesn't require removing the tire from the rim, remove the whole wheel and bring the set in for exchange which I plan to do Thursday AM.

I thought I would a trailer after back surgery but am fully back in the saddle and easily loading the Trident on the roof (smarter methods) by myself with no problem. I have been thinning the fleet and anticipate selling my trailer in the near future.   It's the 4X8 with about an 1100 lb weight limit and 12 inch tires.  I added plywood with multiple layers of marine spare soaked into it and cut them so the trailer still completely folds.  I added removable wooden brackets that fit into the railing brackets with cross over pipes and two sets of kayak racks, so I have a few extra $$ in it. PM me if anyone is interested.  I'm in Kent WA.  PS, new tires:-)
