Hi all, I'm John.   I'm moving from Denver to JBLM in January to take a civil service job (I'm retired military, and after a long break of 8 years away from the service, I'm going back to work for the Army, go figure), and I'm super-psyched to get to Washington.  In 2015, for Xmas, I got a Hobie PA 17, and I've used it a little bit here in Colorado (tho I was traveling for most of 2017, so it has seen the water since 2016) and can't wait to try different kinds of fishing in Washington and beyond.   I think I'm going to need some help trying to figure out the regulations, and tactics and techniques for chasing the different species.   I'm determined to make the most use I can of my yak, and would be more than happy to share deck space on it with someone willing to teach me the ropes. Cheers

Welcome John! I'm an hour or two north of you in Marysville. Trident 13 is planning a meet up for us puget sound guys at the Hellbent Brewery at 7:30 on January 11. There is a post in the Washington Kayak Fishing section of the forum. I've been pretty busy lately with work and school, but I'd like to plan a trip on the water sometime soon.

Welcome and thank you for your service. I'm up north here in Snohomish, WA, reasonably near Ravensfan, but don't mind driving to meet up and go fishing. Trident 13 is helping me learn the ropes of this kayak fishing, and your PA17 will be even better in the salt than my kayak is. Looking forward to meeting you! Will you be here in time for the meetup on Jan 11?

Hi, thanks for all the messages.    I won't be leaving Colorado till MLK day (and that's providing the Army can actually publish my orders).   But like I said before, I'm really looking forward to moving to Washington!   Hope to meet many of you in person, F2F,soon.  Thanks again

John-
Welcome to the forum - I'm active military at JBLM. You'll enjoy the breadth and depth of kayak angling opportunities out here. Look forward to chasing fish with you when you're out this way.

Thanks, Rick, and all.  The Army dorked up my orders, so now I won't be up PNW  way till after President's Day. I'm like a little kid waiting for XMas.   Just want to get up there and play.  Oh, yeah, and I'm supposed to say how excited I am to go to work, too.    ;)

I hear they are like locusts ... a plague on the land (my gf is a former lawyer ... no longer practices ... btw).  Maybe she can figure it out for me ...
