Sometimes the endless hours of salmon trolling don't seem worth it...and then your rod folds over.

Here's a little teaser to get your blood pumping.

After watching that I think I want to go hang myself.   Seriously though, great video. It's also instructive to see those few extra paddle strokes once the takedown happens. I've lost more than one fish by grabbing the rod too soon. You've got to remain cool and put that extra pressure on them. Congratulations on all the fish.

Thanks guys!  Glad you liked em.  The takedown is my favorite part.  So much potential squeezed into a second or two of time.

You must be fishing somewhere other than where we’ve fished with all those takedowns. Just jabbing Mark, reminds me of our many trips and makes me want to head
North again. Art

Nice video! You have amazing restraint to not grab the road immediately. Do you have an estimate on what percentage of those you landed?

I did not see you use a down rigger, how do you keep the bait/jig down?

The Lead Cannonball is the trick.

Thanks Drifter!  Sometimes it's all I can do to keep paddling...

As for the ratio:  Last year was one of my worst hook to land ratios.  In the video, out of 10 chances I lost 4, so 60%.  That was about average for the year.  In a good year, I'll land a solid 80+%.

1 lost at the net when the free hook stuck in the net
1 popped off when I grabbed the rod
2 broke me off during the fight  (mental note: Re-tie any leader that's been in a fight!  How many times do I need to re-learn this?)
