It's a well organized event and a lot of fun. I drove down last year from Seattle.  I just signed up and booked a room at the hotel

If you plan on attending and will stay at Bridge Bay Resort, which is where launch, check-in and awards ceremony will be suggest you reserve a room(s) soon, they only have around 50 and we may get close to 100 participants. Make sure you ask for discount when registering, they have houseboats also if a group wants to get together and share cost.

We have several anglers making the trek from WA and OR, still time to sign up.

Here is updated info and we have a lot of great prizes to give away.

As most of you know this event started as a HOW fundraiser and turned into a Hobie Fishing Worlds Qualifier we appreciate all the support and we want to make it a little more interesting for those of you who are signed up and those of you who are on the fence. We already have great Captains Bags, and a ton of other prizes to giveaway at the awards ceremony so now time to talk about payout.

We are at 73 participants, below you will see what payout will be at 75 and each additional 5 up to 100.

We are again setting aside funds for travel/entry fee to Hobie Worlds with with a couple changes this year.

1st place will have choice of the Hobie Compass or the invitation to Hobie Fishing Worlds 8.

New this year:

If 1st place takes the invitation he or she will also get the cash per payout below and when the time comes travel costs and entry fee to Worlds.

The Hobie Compass will become a raffle prize if 1st place does not choose and all of you will have a shot at it during the awards ceremony! Remember each entry gets three tickets, no tickets will be sold.

If 1st place takes the Hobie Compass, the cash payout will move down one person and we would payout to 11th place and then invitation will go to next person in line.

We hope that each of you walks away with appreciation for your donation/support of HOW, some nice gifts in your Captains Bags, many of you will end up with very nice prizes and at least 10 of you some money in your pocket.

Here is current projected payout,

75 participants

1st 400
2nd 300
3rd 250
4th 200
5th 150
6th 100
7th 100
8th 100
9th 100
10th 100

HFW8 will be held sometime in Spring of 2019, Hobie usually doesn't announce location until the fall. They have pattern of every other year in the US but could be anywhere in the world.

I'm looking forward to getting down to Shasta for the event.  Every day there seems to be another sponsor coming on.  If you're on the fence, think about making the trip.  I fished it last year and it was a blast.

This RV park/resort is one exit south of Bridge Bay Resort where tournament is being held, about a mile. Popular with bass boat tournament people. http://www.fawndale.com/

For more info on where to stay take a look at our web site. http://www.shastabasskayakclassic.com/find-us.php

Just got back from fishing the Shasta Bass Classic benefiting Heroes on the Water. This was a really fun event that tested your skills with changing conditions and heavily fished areas. The tournament was very well run and the directors deserve a lot of credit for keeping 97 dudes in line. The Bridge Bay Resort was a great place to stay with convenient access to fishing and a good restaurant on site. Headwaters Adventure Company was a gracious host and the owners were some of the nicest people you'll meet.

Pre fishing was a little tough with cold and rainy conditions but we finally figured out a pattern that worked only to have day one of the tournament turn warm with blue bird conditions. This was the first time fishing for spot bass for most in the group but persistence paid off with all five in the NWKA group finishing in the top half of the field.

Sunday's standings found Brad in the 43rd spot after a good Saturday and Jordan in 42 with great fish on Sunday. James had a limit on both days and landed in 33rd. Magic Mike finished in 21st after having a huge first day and I was lucky enough to take 17th. Our new friend Marvin had two solid days and was 11th, just out of the money. Met some great fishermen and made some new friends.

Congratulations to Obedie Williams on the win and we will be rooting for you in 2019 at Hobie Worlds.

A huge thank you to everyone that helped put on this event as well as the sponsors for providing sweet prizes.

Thanks for the report Jed! I am sad I wasn't able to make it, but I'll be leaving for a week and a half to go to the KBF National Championship tomorrow and I didn't find it wise for my marriage to propose another tournament the weekend before  ;D Sounds like a great showing from us "Salmon Guys" up north.
