No kayak yet, have been getting back into fishing recently. I’m a bigger guy so when I do get a kayak (hopefully this winter) the capacity will have to be there. I’m really leaning towards a Hobie but am interested in the new Pelican peddle kayak coming out.  Hope to start out on lakes to get comfortable with kayaking (only been a handful of times putting around) then fish from the kayak and eventually into the sound.

I’ve also been thinking about doing a guided kayak fishing trip to see if it’s something I’d like to do, which I’m sure I will.

You might run down to Gig Harbor Water Sports  http://gigharborwatersports.com/
and ask for a demo peddle in one or more hobies or other yaks they have.  Nice folks and a nice way to get your wet on before leaping in, so to speak.  Good luck and it will be fun.

Weird that you say that. Me and the wife we having lunch the other day in Gig Harbor and drove by that place and I saw all the Hobies outside and that’s what got me looking into kayak fishing. I have been researching it ever since like crazy.

I’m always looking for ways to exercise and have fun at the same time because it’s boring to go to a gym!

I’ve also been thinking I may contact Kayak Fishing Washington to do a guided trip to get a little experience and guidance since none of my friends or family kayak.

Second the suggestion on visiting GH watersports (aka GH Fly Shop).  Blake Merwin and his staff are great folks and will happily let you try out boats.  They have a variety of the Hobie, plus Natives, SUPs, etc. Blake also does guided trips and even group outings for his customers.  Definitely worth your time.

Tubbster, let me know if I can help. I have two PA 14s and will have the new Outback in mid October.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I can already tell this is a good forum. Now some of the Mustang forums I’m on... that’s a different story.
